I have an ashtray on my back porch but just for the occasional cigar. Don't smoke cigs anymore although I did for way too long.

Wasn’t like that back in 50’s and 60’s.

I'm assuming my fraternity house had some ashtrays in the house. Not sure it was on the coffee table all the time.

My parents didn't smoke and no one in my house does

Never, but my grandparents had one like this in their house until they passed away and everything was sold in a garage sale.

Don't have one in my house but we have them in my office. We smoke cigars in there pretty often

Until my older sister got to middle school and was taught about the evils of second hand smoke in health class. Probably 1990 give or take a year or two.

She came home and banished my dad to the garage. We’ve all been moved out for more than 20 years, but he still smokes in the garage out of habit. Won’t even smoke on the back deck.

Early 90s I think

Parents both smoked and by some stroke of luck I have just always hated it so I never started

People that started smoking after like 2000 just blow my mind

Literally never. I wasn’t raised trashy.

(lots of trashy downvotes here)

I have one on my desk at work, but not for smoking. It is a memento from my dad who worked in the sheet metal shop at Avondale Shipyards for like 40 years. It was an ashtray designed for use on navy ships and my dad brought several home as "homework." I keep paper clips in it.

1977. And yes it did. My parents both smoked, none of us kids ever did. Strange how that worked out.

Luckily most kids don't smoke now.

It was pretty common when I was in HS. I probably had more friends that smoked than didn't.

Just bought a 100 year old house. It has a smoking room. The pets are loving it.

I always found cigars amplified a hangover... guess the smoke was extra dehydrating. I would smoke one if someone broke them out, but never something I did habitually.

I still enjoy a cigar on the weekend with a beer or bourbon sitting outside grilling or something like that but I don't smoke a lot of them anymore.
