You really want to pick whichever quadrant of the city that your job is located. If not commuting for a job, all of those places are pretty equally rated. St George and Ascension might be a little nicer, but will also be a little more expensive, so it's kind of a wash. Seems like everyone plays baseball at Traction.

Not as bad for 10 West as it is for 10 east. I drive to Denham Springs for work every day. My commute isn’t near as awful as you’d think and it’s way worse for those on 10 East. But I don’t think I’d want to have to deal with I10 and La 1 daily.

Baton Rouge and St. George public schools are garbage. Ascension or Livingston are the newer if schools matter. Or you could pay $12,000 a year for private school.

Going from West to East in the morning and then back in the afternoon isn’t nearly as bad as the other way around.

Husband worked for Gerry Lane for awhile and his commute wasn’t bad.

St George doesn’t have its ISD yet.

Central for baseball and schools. Zachary next.

by Ramblin WreckBefore choosing an area, drive from where ever you will be working to the potential neighborhood at 5 PM a few times. I work near downtown and my house is in St George. It takes an hour in the afternoons most days. The Highland exit takes 15 minutes alone on many days to get through the light. It is bumper to bumper traffic from the interstate, Highland, Jefferson, all the way to Prairieville. It would probably take me just as long to get home if I commuted to Lafayette.

Pecue exit might help

I have some friends who were born and raised in Zachary who have pulled their kids from Zachary schools to sent them to Silliman and CP because it’s gotten so bad

They’re so afraid of black people that they put their children into formerly segregation academies?

Not afraid of black people, it’s the culture that follows. Notice I didn’t say anything about black people in my post, I said ghetto. What other private schools do you want them to go to that’s close to where they live?

Go deal with some of the people in Zachary public schools and get back to me.

The problem isn’t ethnicity in general, it’s the lowest common denominator within that group.

How many ‘Ys’ did you put in your kids name?

How many miles you wanting to put on your lifted F250 commuter truck?

Brother I am sorry for all the downvotes, I had the exact same thoughts. Sounds like a dweeb in a big truck that drives to the office "I need muh super duty coz we like costco bah for feeding the team"

Zachary or St George imo

He said he’s looking for middle schools, so that means he already has school aged children.

St George would be out in tha case because they are still part of EBRPSS unless he wants to and the kids to private/catholic schools). Now in a few years when St George has their own schools and the system is up and running, then St George is the easy choice.

Any place in Georgia or Louisiana that's not lily white is ghetto. If every dude isn't wearing a quarter zip or a nano puff vest and calling each other buddy, the blacks have taken over.

I just moved to Central. Houses go FAST. I spent about 3 months looking. Nobody freaking leaves that place and for good reason.

No culture, public schools are good, and houses aren’t cookie cutter and on top of each other like most of Baton Rouge.
