i've often wondered if it would be worth it to go into pharm sales, rather than just being a pharmacist....

do pharm sales companies even hire pharmacist anymore? i know at one point that's all they would, or so i've been told, then it switched, and its kinda cyclical...

i've just always been curious

i have that...

i've just always figured that companies would rather hire non-pharmacists, as they would be less expensive to have around than a pharmacist

Why bother with messing up another dudes gig just because you care for him? Maybe (not saying you are) you're a bad employee and this guy is riding your arse to get the job done.

Just hand in your 2 weeks notice, and ride it out knowing you have something better in the end. Be the more professional one.

He has to believe you are looking out for him. Tell him you are leaving because of the shitty manager and that other people are looking to leave for the same reason. You are only telling him this so his business doesn't go south due to one shitty manager. If you choose your words carefully, he should appreciate it.

Why would they do that?

The job is more about sales than in depth doctorate level knowledge of the pharmaceutical.

just left a med sales job after 14 years to start my own deal. While I think your advice is 100 percent correct, the statement above is a sad one.

Why not stay till July and have a different boss? Or tell the higher boss what's being said and he can speak directly to other reps.

It's better to say nothing. You are leaving and that is all that matters.

I left my last employer because I could not stand my supervisor. Generally speaking, people quit their bosses and not companies. She was simply awful and did not deserve to be in her leadership position. But that was not my call to make. I could only control me and I did what I believe is best for me.

No need to ruffle any feathers, because then you make it personal and you never know who you'll run into again in your industry.

You mean marketing.

No, he means sales. He's going to be a drug dealer.

It's better to keep your mouth shut.
This is a stage in life where "Discretion is the better part of valor" makes sense.

This guy was a douche, okay...I get that. But telling his boss will have what effect? Get him fired? Doubt it. His boss has likely seen his issues and for some reason hasn't done anything. If you open Pandora's box and puke...well now his boss now has opinions about you...It's better to keep them guessing.

Remember two things:
1. Karma is a bitch.
2. And as my father once said, "Be kind to your helper and your (pipe)fitter, for one day they may become your foreman." My father was a pipewelder for years.

Yes this guy was already your boss...but remember he could go up the pyramid of power and become your boss again in life...or worse...your boss's boss.

You should skip pharma and hold out for device. As another person said sometimes you can get labeled as a pharma rep making the transition that much more difficult. Device often like to hire their own.

Did you ever stop to think that your bosses boss had some input on hiring/promoting your immediate boss? If you tell your bosses boss that your immediate boss is an idiot, your are telling the bosses boss he is an idiot for hiring him......
