Mike-written, 'The Girl I Knew Somewhere' Monkees Clip with Julie Newmar. Funny
The Monkees video clip "The Girl I Knew Somewhere" (with Julie Newmar)

Mike was an excellent underrated song-writer and vocalist. He had a tough time dealing with being taken seriously on both counts.

Oddly enough I was just listening to Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn and Jones Ltd last night. Terrific album.

Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart

Boyce and Hart were songwriters. I believe you're thinking of The Wrecking Crew session musicians that played on everyone's albums in the '60s and '70s.

They were indeed songwriters, read on,
“It was Boyce and Hart who wrote, produced and recorded, accompanied by their backing band, the Candy Store Prophets, backing tracks for a large portion of the first season of The Monkees, and the band's accompanying debut album”
Wiki link B&H

The Wrecking Crew did work with the Monkees on later projects.
