For 50 years the religious right's MAIN rallying call has been to overturn RvW. So, I kinda think that was the goal. We have how many Catholics on the court right now?
Ah, attacking Catholics
You know who else did that? The KKK and Hitler

Today’s decision does not make abortion illegal.
Correct. It leaves it up to 100 politicians. Many of which we know their leanings and some of which we have no idea.
I don’t care either way, I don’t shite out a baby. But I can agree with a woman saying she doesn’t want a decision made for her by some weirdo religious zealot.
Also, I don’t need to be tried for murder because I live in a state with said lawmakers and can’t blow some guts and then feed her Plan B.

For the pro choice people in this thread, how would you feel if the way every abortion was performed was to extract the fetus from the womb, set him or her on a table, and then shoot them with an AR-15?

It’s the only correct way to endow the Federal government with a power it does not currently have.
The powers of Congress are specifically outlined in Article I, Section 8.
Do you think Griswold, Lawrence and Obergefell should be overturned then?

Choices have consequences

You and I both know this had dick-all to do with federalism and everything to do with coming through with an ENORMOUS victory for the religious right.
You have been consistently wrong in this thread so “we” don’t see eye-to-eye on this statement.
If the Court wanted to really go all in the religious elements of this issue they would have held that government sanctioning of abortion at the state level violates the 5th Amendment due process clause (via 14)

Bet most of the people ITT hate Miranda and Terry.

But if the fetus is female, isn’t abortion someone making a choice for them, to much greater consequence?

I agree. Where does it end? If I go vacation and knock a slut up in an anti abortion state, what then? If she’s not from there? What about IUD and birth control? Is that faux pas?

Not necessarily.
These are all way less controversial than Roe because the substantive issue in each of these three does not serve any legitimate government purpose.
Personally, I am pro-gay marriage and obviously pro-contraception. The prohibition of which serves no legitimate government means.
I would also support an actual right to family/ sexual privacy codified in the Constitution. But that is a wholly separate issue than abortion.

She can travel to a different state, or choose to have the baby. …in which case you’re now the one who’s fricked

Yes because abortion is wrong. I get that progressive/liberals or whatever they are this week do not believe in absolutes and revel in relativism but killing a human being (or whatever you want to call it at it’s early state) is WRONG.

Since when has the "American right" turned the other cheek?

Pro choice women talk about their rights. What about the rights of the babies, 50% of whom are female?

I cant imagine any state making contraception illegal
I dont think the government should be in the marriage business at all, gay or straight

it’s up to the States, as intended.
the written decision said the SC had no intention or need to rule on anything else related to abortion.

Sure. Tell that to the ones making the laws. Me thinks you underestimate the overzealous nature of those making laws.
