3?

It's all about circumference. If the smaller circle is 1/3 the circumference, then it would rotate 3 times. Just comparing circumferences of the circles.

Is this simple or am I way off???

Because the right answer wasn't one of the options. A 15 year old (and a few others) wrote the SAT test writers a letter telling them they were morons, so the SAT removed the question and changed everyone's scores. It cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to do so.

Ah.

Well I guess it does sound pretty likely then.

The radius is half, so it would actually be 4 based on C=2piR. Each revolution of A, would go around 1/4 of B’s circumference. The problem is that 4 is not one of the options

The answer is 4 because the center of A is 4r away from the center of B.

I got the same answer. The circle that point A travels is 8pi/3. The perimeter of circle A is 2pi/3. 8pi/3/2pi/3 = 4.

Right. This reminds me of physics or dynamics problems with 2 different sized spheres

Doesn't seem like everyone got it wrong, just that the SAT test makers got it wrong

Rotating that quarter around the other quarter freaked me out. Thought he proved we're in the matrix.

I really enjoyed this. I would’ve guessed 3 before watching the explanation. Thanks for sharing.
