Franklin of course sounds good but has no shot.

the Phelps stuff doesn't seem that bad.

But let's be real, who of high quality would really want this job?

Kirkpatrick at least has big city experience in Memphis and Oakland. Her getting forced out in Oakland could have been political, without knowing more about it. None of the others give me any reason to think they can handle the problems in New Orleans.

Yeah it seems like it’s just a meeting/process issue. Probably something dumb like they didn’t have prior public notice that they were going to discuss city business and didn’t have someone recording the minutes.

Short of hiring 1000 officers, none of these people are going to “handle” problems

Three of those candidates have an attribute that would preclude them ever being hired in New Orleans.

These are bad, bad, bad.

Now I want to see the bios of the 20-something candidates that didn't make the cut. Just to see how even worse they are.

LaToya is trying to say none of this was her doing. No one believes that.

Woodfork has not been awful. At this point, take the interim tag off of her and the next mayor can deal with a long term solution.

Teedy and Broome are both going to hire BFs and I, for one, cannot wait.

Seriously, does it even matter who is in charge? The force is depleted, the populace is anti-police, and the city leadership doesn’t care either.

It’s like hiring Nick Saban to coach a team with a depleted roster and no support from the administration and total ambivalence from the fanbase.

I don't either; this sounds like a bullshite charge laid out by political enemies. What else would you discuss at a community forum if not "public business".

quote:

the Virginia Supreme Court in May found Phelps and other officials violated the state’s Freedom of Information Act by discussing “public business” at a 2020 community forum following protests related to the police killing of George Floyd in Minnesota, because the gathering did not comply with public meeting requirements

and I don't see a problem with Franklin.

I don't see a problem either (but I heard he is white).

I wish Lopinto was a candidate!

I'm wondering why any law enforcement official with years of supervisory and street experience would want anything to do with Teedy, a depleted force with morale issues and in a city riddled with crime and corruption? And, for a job that might only last for two years?

Not a single internal candidate applied or was qualified?

That’s the story in this. It says a lot.

Sounds like he is the most NOLA one on the list.
