The weather was worse here last week when we lost power and streets flooded. Today, We got lucky. I said south of laffy. It’s north of laffy. Doh!
Anyhow, hope everyone is safe.

I think the worst is overhead right now. Down pours but not much wind at all. Radar shows it passing soon.

That second line is within the cool sector and will only be rain and some lightning. Nothing intense.

We had a big lightning strike near Jones Creek and Coursey that literally set off my house alarm. Scared the shite out of me. My dog is also being a rather large pussy. He hates bad weather.

So far, this event was the classic bust, at least south of I-10. That seems to be the case a lot of the time.

Been watching that other band fire up.
Me no likey, but won't be as bad as the first one.

That’s a good thing. Others throughout the day likely won’t be as fortunate.

I said that yesterday and got hammered for it. Turns out I was right and am officially the anti-Peej.
Most of these hyped up events in our area of the country turn out to fall flat. It’s those strong arse summer storms that pop up that give us our worst weather it seems. Those happen without warning and every summer somewhere in the BR area gets hammered by one or two.

Two thunder rumbles about 10 minutes ago. Rain just started in Covington. So far, so good. I'm hoping it's a dud. I've got enough shite to deal with, without this.

I think that since it hit BR area so early, it didnt have time to strengthen and was not very intense. Those in MS, AL and GA are probably not going to be so lucky later today.
I think Louisiana will get sunshine later today.

Winds are picking up here in Western St Tammany.

I didn't mean to be offensive. I'm just pointing out that the folks who live south of I-10 in Lafayette don't get the same severe weather that others do further north because the instability often isn't as great due to the marine layer. It's been a trend ever since I lived in Louisiana that the further north you are (Alexandria, Shreveport, Ferriday, etc), the tornado threat is much more legitimate.

So far 2 people in LA have been killed.
I’m sure their family feels differently.

quote:that's the one, Advocate has shades of red in that band. Hopefully much tamer. Will the temp drop after that passes? Went from 73 to 68, still feels warm outside. I'd have thought the first blast would have been colder.
crap, per the Advocate there's a second red band coming in minutes

The 2nd band is just heavy rain. The severe threats ends once the first line pushes through.
