I was trying to think of something I could do with it, it's a neat little machine..

Cool beer, something.

Hoping by the time I have to replace this knee they’ll have better options. Doc said he thinks my options will be vast in ten years.

I would guess so. Doc said my actual surgery was about 30 minutes, which seems amazing to me given what all they have to do, but they do use robots now.

Yeah, I still have a ways to go. As I type this, my knee is sore. I did too much exercise a week ago Friday and popped an internal stitch, and it has set me back a bit. It still hurts and it's been 10 days since I did that.

One other advice i would give if you are thinking of having it done, is to start exercises ro stretch and strengthen your leg muscles as much as possible. Will also help speed up recovery.

I had both knees done at the same time. My wife and I are laughing right now remembering my first night at home passing out on the toilet and sliding down into the corner. She had a hell of a time getting me out. Funny now.

Good news for you!
Mine was a disaster! It started out the first week great. then pulmonary embolism at 8 days, a week in the hospital. Fell after therapy and tore patela tendon, then infection and after only 3 mos took out implant and put in another. continued with infection..
Changed surgeons and he replaced again. 2nd implant was improperly put in. fought infection for over a year.
Loonng story short...3 implants on left knee, 2 antibiotic implants, torn patela tendon, torn quad tendon, quad tendon graft, 3 surgeries to remove scar tissue, skin graft...all totaled 5 years 17 surgeries. Still not there yet!

have a full knee replacement scheduled for Feb 5. Thanks for the insight.

I had my left knee replaced on Feb 3 of last year. Don’t be afraid of the surgery. I was after reading stories of PT not going well. I can finally get around without a limp. That surgery was painful at first but definitely worth it. The nerve block will make you think you are Superman for the 1st 36 hours. Stay ahead on pain meds for when the block wears off.

I am two weeks ahead of you. I am 2 months tomorrow.

You seem to have had a slightly rougher time than me. But that's okay, as each person is different. I ditched the walker almost immediately. I was literally walking around the house the next day, holding onto furniture.

Had some burning nerve pain for about a week that made standing to pee very painful. But it went away.

I was released from PT after 6 weeks. Got the knee to 125 degrees. Still have some healing going on, and stretching it is painful, but slowly getting better. I plan to get back on my bike in a few weeks and ride the levees.

Best of luck to you in your recovery.

Glad you are on the mend. I’ll be a year on Feb 3 since I had mine done. I’ve come a long way since then and walk pain free without a limp.

My brother fired his doctor for making him wait 45 minutes and it was not the first time. He declared that his time was just as valuable as the doctor's.

Lmao I love when patients “fire” a provider bc it’s almost always someone we are glad to get rid of anyway

Yep. They beat into our heads to take the pain meds regardless of how you feel the first 10 days as the nerve block will mask it those first 2-4 days.

Was wondering how you were doing.

I got to 120 in the 3rd week. Straightening has been my issue. I think I'm finally at 0 or 1 now.

My nerve pain was weeks 2-5, and I still have some, but its not keeping me from getting some sleep now like it was.

I was told I should be 60% at 6 weeks, 80% at 12 and full recovery can take a year. Good luck to you.

I'm currently rehabbing a knee injury and based on all of the damage over the years (I'm only 32) I know that replacements are down the road. Glad to hear that you're making a speedy recovery and appreciate the insight!

Look at Gerald Swindle’s social media, he had both done and has documented his progress.

My mom's right around the same time period as you. She's in a lot of pain. She's 75 though. So likely not healing as fast as someone younger
