Finished a triple roundabout in Hayden this year

and the learning curve is just about complete. It’s coming off the interstate and overall it’s been great but just one idiot quickly changes that equation. But still better than stopping for a couple sets of red lights could ever be.

Like not having to stop every single time you go through an intersection?

just go around in circles on one

Did that in a pink VW bus with a load of grand kids on Perdido Key. Everyone laughed and waved back, but we only went around twice

Sadly, they are no longer restricted to the North and can be found in the South.

Disagree, we need to remove all lights and convert to them exclusively.

People will learn ...it's a far superior way to keep traffic moving.

I assume the traffic light and oil lobby groups won't ever let it happen.

People are idiots when it comes to roundabouts, but in general, in low to moderate traffic areas they are superior to other intersection designs when drivers use them properly. For smaller roads you can eliminate 4-way stop signs and make traffic flow better and save fuel by minimizing stops.

In Baton Rouge the circle at Government/Lobdell was a huge upgrade over the stoplights.

we have them in a very high traffic area in CLT and if designed correctly they are great. I think it works far too well for America to adopt, no time to ck the phones.

They put one in Thibodaux right on the main drag. It’s fricking people up left and right.

I like them.

Bossier city has been putting them in.

I was skeptical about Leesville putting them in and besides the occasional overturned log truck they seem to work well there.

I don't have a problem with traffic circles in general if they're large enough. Most of the new swarm that have been constructed are small and are nuisances.

The one on Pecue near Woman's hospital is a good one but I've seen some in other states that were nothing more than a big sign in the middle of it.

Ellick got rid of a really good one on MacArthur Drive. It was huge.

When I lived on the Mexican border there was one roundabout. Those Mexicans couldn’t figure out how to use them whatsoever. They’d either be stopped in the middle of the road trying to figure it out, go the wrong way, or, if they missed their turn, put it in reverse instead of just making the loop again. We should build those on the border instead of a wall.

I’ve come across a lot of gratuitous roundabouts. There’s a double roundabout (a crazy 8, if you will) off of highway 100 in rural west St. Louis county. It replaced a single stop sign that functioned perfectly prior. Now you get three grandmas trying to figure out how to straight one roundabout and immediately position yourself for the next one.

Same for turn medians. Have a ton in houston that nobody seems to know how to use.

The biggest traffic crisis happening in our country is zipper merging.

This is exactly the one I was referring to in my OP. I agree that it is a big upgrade. But those damn idiots still do that shite on the daily.

I wasn’t trying to imply that I dislike roundabouts. I actually agree with you. I’m just saying some idiot don’t know how to use them. I’m willing to put up with those idiots, because it does run more smoothly. Plus, I also enjoy blasting the horn at them
