Right but the booster they are advocating for and trying to get approved now is the current formula. There’s no data to prove that it even needs to be changed for delta. They just want more money.
Right.
But the booster talk is specifically in regards to combating Delta, which is what the OP is about.

This thread is turning into nothing but a perfect example of how shitty the ACTUAL INFORMATION DISSEMINATION is on so much of this stuff.

And this is Reuters. Considered a neutral news source.
I found this statement buried way down close to the end of the article…
quote:
Pfizer and BioNTech said they had designed a new version of the vaccine targeting the Delta variant with a clinical trial likely to begin in August, but added the current vaccine version had "the potential" to protect against the variant.
And this is the first I’ve heard of any work on a Delta vaccine. Before that statement all the talk in the article was about a third shot of the current vaccine.

Same, but for the delta it is effective. There are a few variants that we are worried about, and hence the research on tweaking the vaccine.

Eh. There was booster talk well before delta. Isreal did boosters already.

This virus is engineered by humans, so I'm hesitant to hang my hat on this, but a typical virus will almost always mutate into a weaker version of itself. Perhaps more transmissible, but weaker.
I need to start making a bingo chart. This notion isn't true.

That the virus is human engineered or that virus will almost always mutate into a weaker version of itself?

Because most of it is usually paywalled, though PubMed has made lots of COVID-related articles free. No one really thinks to use these databases though.

Just because you haven't heard it doesn't mean it hasn't been covered.
I've seen various articles on combatting Delta and NBC nightly news has had a clip on it a couple of times. Maybe pay attention more and watch NBC nightly news. They are a good source still report news somewhat objectively.
News channels are not news. They are opinions styled in a format to trigger the idiots that tend to watch them.

We have problems getting people to take the vaccine now. Imagine if we had to take one for each variant? That's if they could tweak the vaccine in enough time to distribute before the next variant comes out.

It would seem like this would be a good way for actual public health officials to earn what it is we pay them.

quote:Because the end game wasn't about health, it was about getting us "vaccinated."
So we got the COVID vaccine literally days after the election. It was designed to counter the “Alpha” variant, the original version of the virus. But now we have Delta variant. But the experts keep pushing the vaccine designed for the Alpha variant to fight the Delta variant. I understand it gives some protection against Delta. But it’s becoming more and more obvious it doesn’t prevent the spread of Delta.
Why aren’t they working on a vaccine designed to fight the Delta variant? The drug companies manage to come up with new flu vaccines every year because every year there’s a different variant of the flu. Why isn’t there an Operation Warpspeed 2.0 to fight Delta?
Your question should be, what is it about the "vaccination" that they so desperately want in our bodies?

Both actually. I only noticed the virus weaker thing the first read-through.

The ability to shape a message isn't one of the strong suits of the officials in charge. Hopefully explaining simple concepts to an eager public becomes a requirement or something. I struggle with it myself.

So you think the virus is actually naturally occurring and did indeed jump from bats to human via the Wuhan Wet Market?
Posted on 9/20/21 at 11:58 am to Darth_Vader
2 weeks to stop the spread

But, what you said is not really that hard to understand and, regardless of what anyone is trying to argue otherwise, is for some reason not being widely disseminated.
Why that is, I have no idea.

You’d think there would be more talk from Fauci or Biden about a Delta vaccine. And if they are working on it, why not operate under the same framework that was used in Operation Warpspeed so this new vaccine can hit the market quickly?
