My guess is top TABC officials were being courted by out of state retailers and being influenced to put heat on specs to ease their entry to market.

Absolutely.

The TABC are like the SS.

I'm not exaggerating. They've been known to walk into bars and start arresting people for public intox. Happened to a friend of mine, who got his 15 minutes with the local NBC affiliate at least... who did an investigation on them.

If I have to explain the BR corruption , you haven't been paying attention.

NO has been quieter by comparison, but there has been questions about the money changing hands over the statue thing. Very large sums that garnered little more than a raised eyebrow.

I can buy liquor at my local corner store. Can you do that?

I can find a good paying job and easily live in a place with modern world class schools and low crime in Texas.

Bump for update on TABC

quote:

Only weeks into the job, the acting executive director of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission is calling it quits.
Ed Swedberg's abrupt and unexpected resignation from the agency, effective Monday, marks the sixth high-level departure since April from the agency that oversees alcohol regulation in Texas. The TABC has been rocked by revelations of lavish spending, mismanagement and regulatory overreach.
Swedberg, the agency's deputy executive director since 2012, took over the top job on a temporary basis in May. He notified TABC Chairman Kevin Lilly of his decision to step down in a hand-written letter Friday. He said he was quitting because he did not want to participate in the "termination" of Licensing Director Amy Harrison.

I know someone who got a PI.

He was drinking at a hotel bar and they got him walking back to his fricking room
