Guy obviously was uber talented, but always admired his outlandish outfits. Some of them gave Elton John a run for his money.

To quote a friend of mine “yes, the dude can play, but why did he dress like a gay Zoro?”

Because, despite his apparent melanin deficiency, Stevie was black as frick.

Stevie wore boots and a hat to appear taller. He was only 5'5" tall.

Jimi might have written "Voodoo Chile (slight return)" and "Little Wing", but it took Stevie to figure out how to really play them. Stevie's recording of "Little Wing" may be the greatest guitar recording ever.

SRV was the greatest of all time, and I'm putting him up against Clapton, Page, Beck, Jimi, etc.

He died before I ever got a chance to see him.

As a guitar player, I deem him as the most talented guitar player of all time in terms of control of the blues scale, voice, rhythm, signature rips, tempo. Just owned the guitar and stage. His thoughts came out of of his guitar. RIP SRV.

I had tickets (floor seats) to see SRV open for Eric Clapton in Biloxi five days after the crash. No internet in those days so five days wasn’t a ton of time between crash and concert.

Show was weird with no mention of SRV at all from Clapton. Clapton played an incredible set but just found it odd/disrespectful.

I wish I appreciated his music more when I was younger and maybe had a chance to see him live.
