Should have bought the insurance. If not, your shite out of luck.
Either way, this storm will be gone by tomorrow so it shouldn't affect your vacation.
Depending on the weather, I may drive there this afternoon.

I'm on 30A right now between Rosemary and Alys. I feeling pretty good about this though. We're still on the west side. Hopefully this keeps everyone else away so that we can enjoy a less crowded beach Sunday throgh Wednesday.

I'm actually heading down to destin this weekend for LD. What's the feeling like down there? Is this gonna mess the beaches up for the weekend?

We were at dinner last night and the owner came out and said they planned to be open tonight. That doesn't seem smart to me but should give you an idea. People don't see that worried.
In think we're looking at 30 to 40 mile winds here. My mom lives here full time and they get those kind of winds multiple times each year.

Got a video of the Gulf at OB from the Misses just now. If I knew how to post a video easily I would.

Slightly bigger waves than normal in OB. Not worth the effort to post

Agree, hence:
She said the surfers were flocking in the evenings for the rare 6' waves in OB.

They are leaving coming back today, per their plans. So they pretty much timed it perfectly. Nice breeze all week and none of the rain.

I hope we can't get a refund on our condo. Was supposed to vacation in Destin sept 1-sept7
Most rental agreements have a clause about being able to cancel and get refunds if there is a named storm in the gulf.

Destin is on the west side where there's hardly any wind. Plus it will be gone up into Georgia by tomorrow afternoon.

Shear has really relaxed and you can see storms building over the center in the last few frames. Also, there is a bit of a jet streak rotating through that should help enhance the northern outflow given the system a window to reach hurricane strength. The only streak that will stay standing is the Major Hurricane one.
While not a hurricane model, it will be interesting to see how the newly upgraded HRRR handles this today:
