Teacher shortage because no one wants to deal with kids with no home training and dumb arse parents.

That's the biggest issue that no one ever mentions.

On the contrary, it gets mentioned by teachers, all the fricking time. And the iPad generation has magnified the problem, which was also caused by the parents.

But the school districts won't say anything about it, because their job is to get more money, not accountability.

I made a mistake of becoming a certified social studies teacher in the Florida panhandle and I was out of field for a year over in Pensacola and I suppose technically I could be a physics teacher for one year if a school would have me, but f someone to teach that long without any type of certification is pretty hard to believe, but I guess schools get real creative when they’re desperate. God help those that really need extra help in the classrooms because the staffing is not and will not be there. Hell, my Class in the middle school in Pensacola was right across from the special ed room and they didn’t even have a certified teacher in there.

Most rural parishes in Louisiana (and many states) have non-certified teachers. Their is a shortage, no one wants to live there, and they pay next to nothing. There are still parishes in Louisiana that start teachers in the low $30k and barely move up from there. Compare that to the highest which start in the upper $40k.

Used to be a rule that you had a year to pass the Praxis. Don’t think they care about the rule now because of teacher shortage. Biggest downfall for them is I don’t believe they get retirement with the state. Could be wrong on that but that’s what I’ve heard.

I know of teachers who aren't certified and never even graduated from college. They are so desperate for teachers that during the interview the main question they ask is, "Did you attend college" and even if the candidate only attended for one semester, they're hired. When teachers call in sick and there aren't enough substitutes they actually have custodians cover the class.

Is the teacher good or no?

Why would a certification matter?

I'm not against certification in general, but when talking about a single specific teacher that you are aware of, the question should be whether they are good.

Many private schools have higher standards than certification.

And they don't want to have to deal with fat, sassy Karen screeching about "my Klaxlyn ain't do nuthin' rawng" after their 6th grade kid threw a desk across a classroom because the teacher took his phone away.

Not in Baton Rouge lol. I have plenty of friends who teaches in private schools because they can’t pass a praxis or get certified. I also have a friend who teaches at a private school because they can’t pass a background check. They all prefer to work in public schools since public schools have better medical/dental, retirement, and salaries

Charter school teachers need to be certified.

Most private schools want their teachers to be certified.

I’m a lawyer, dumbass. I’m not qualified to teach kids because I never took any education classes, just like your chemical engineers. Just because you have knowledge in a certain area doesn’t mean you can teach it to kids. Pedagogy is pretty complicated, but you’re obviously not a teacher.

Private schools can get rid of problem kids, including special Ed, ADHD, etc.,while public schools are forced to educate them. I guarantee you that the OP couldn’t find a certified specked teacher in private school in Allen Parish.

Charter schools do NOT need to be certified. Had a teacher lined up for a job in Jefferson Parrish couldn’t pass the science middle school praxis and changed to a charter school in New Orleans. Still at the school ten years later and still hasn’t passed the praxis.

You used over 70 words in your first sentence, and it was too early for you to be drunk. Thank fark you're not teaching.
