Euro airports are a decent place to run into even the hot models. They don't generally have "wait lists". The WoS at Heathrow may be different since it is so busy, but the smaller airports sometimes surprise me. The conversations I have had suggest the hot models are gone in hours if not minutes.

My BIL gave me this today.

Those 1970's era dive watches are always interesting. I actually got a Majestime (same case, different dial) in a sack o' watches I used for practice movements. I don't remember the name but it was a French movement. Decent workhorse type manual wind. The thing I liked about it was the case back engraving, it reminded me of a Vostok scuba dude. The only other thing I remember was it was fairly small, maybe 36mm.

Happy Friday. I’ve been on a field watch kick lately. I’ve worn my Bulova Hack the past 3 days. Have the black dial version also, which is my favorite, but the cream dial is growing on me. Picture makes the dial look more white, but it’s a creamier color.

Figured it was time so show some of my wife's watches that we share. They are watches she chose and bought and most of them are bright colors to coordinate with outfits since the majority of the rest of her watches are white dial Cartiers.
Today it is a 36mm 126000 with a green dial

I have the same Bulova Hack that I wear all the time. It’s a great GADA. Recently put a canvas army green strap on it.

What's a good $500 or less every day watch for the wife?
For reference I got her a deep blue lady diver and she said its gross thats a man's watch.
I'm going to ask her if she likes it before I buy the next one

If I'm looking at eBay at some vintage Seiko diver watches, is there any way to verify it's an actual Seiko watch?
Something like this - Ebay
Don't mind a bit used to keep things below 300, but also want to be reasonably sure I'm not getting gipped.

I enjoy the colored dial versions of the 36 mm OP, including the new ones.
Still across the pond in Ireland, so still rocking the 16710 I had on last week. Not much watch shopping. Went to Weir & Sons on Grafton St. in Dublin today, not much interesting on display. Back home on US soil by tomorrow. Great trip to the Emerald Isle, but ready to come home, Cheers!

Fun fact. The first televised commercial advertisement was for Bulova, aired before a Dodgers-Phillies game in 1941. “America Runs on Bulova Time”. Ten-second spot cost Bulova $9.
There’s a really good documentary on Netflix called America Telling Time: 150 Years of Bulova.
Bulova has a great history. Started off as a USA brand, has some Swiss heritage, now Japanese (Citizen-owned). Not a fan of some of their more modern watches, but the re-issues they’ve done like the Hack, Devil Diver, Lunar Pilot, among others, are great watches that can be had for very little.

Several things here, women are often hard to buy watches for unless the budget permits Cartier which tends to be a cheat code.
Some inexpensive alternatives to the Cartier, the antithesis of a diver:
Casio LTP-007
Lip Churchill collection
Hamilton American Classic Ardmore
Tissot several in the Heritage collection
Seiko several in the Essentials collection
Bulova Sutton
Citizen Classic
One of the best things to do if you have a little time is go on Jomashop and search women's watch in all the entry level luxury brands up to say Longines and Baume et Mercier. Women's watches are often highly discounted compared to men's watch and you can get some killer deals. Longines makes a women's watch, IIRC it is the Lyre you can get right around $500 and if your wife likes integrated bracelet watches, the 35mm quartz Tissot PRX can be found under $300 in multiple colors.

Much speculation over what kind of watch the new Pope wears. Leading candidates are Wenger, Timex and Cascio.

I have an opportunity at a good deal for the new Pelagos Ultra and it's taking a lot out of me. Someone tell me what to do.
I already have the FXD, which I would likely release for this one.

Get her a Scurfa Top Side Crew. Lots of colors to choose from.

I am not going to tell you not to buy a hyper-dive watch if that is what you want. However, I see a different option. I don't know what a "good deal" is on an Ultra and I don't know the current market for sell your FXD but I am betting you will have to go in ~$3000 cash for the Ultra after selling the FXD. I personally would seriously consider buying a used "standard" Pelagos in the opposite colorway of you FXD. For roughly the Ultra money you have 2 watches in different colors are similar yet very different. If you get the 25600 you could get it on bracelet and give you more options. It may be a bit more money but the flexibility of the two would be far more than the Ultra alone. It also offers the option of getting one of the BB versions for even more flexibility.
That said the Ultra is a cool watch but I would be hard pressed to go with it over a pair of Pelagos in different colors and one being and FXD. YMMV

OT watch experts, give me some guidance on a watch I’m considering.
For background, I own 2 watches. A Tag diver I got 20+ years ago as a wedding present from my wife and an Apple Watch.
I still like my Tag and wear it regularly (only wear Apple Watch when traveling or exercising) but was looking at something as an alternate. I wanted a white face (Tag is black) and a leather band. Came across the Breitling top time. Like the looks, like that I can change out the leather band for SS, I like that it’s an automatic, etc. Price point is also somewhere I’m comfortable. I don’t get caught up on the movements but I like that it’s visible through back of watch. I’ve heard of the brand but no very little about it.
Thanks in advance from a watch novice.

It is really simple in the end, if you like it and it fits your budget go for it.
I have never been a fan of Brietling's design language over the last say 30 years but the Top Time is based on a watch from the 60s/70s and I like ti very much. I do like the B-ling heritage designs, except the Navitimer which is just too busy for me.
At 38mm and all dial it is at the same time modest sized but with a large presence. The colorway you choose is also my favorite of the bunch I also like on the B01 Top Time chrono though it has some accents colors on it too.
The B01 movement is Brietling's first in-house 3 hand movement. It has a free spring balance, 78hrs of power reserve and is COSC certified. It is a nice looking movement for the price and has solid precision.
Spend the extra money and get it on a bracelet, you will easily be able to find tons of straps that work well on it.
One thing to note is Breitling is usually available for solid discounts. The B31 is a new watch so harder to get a good discount. Wating a while will likely change that. Just a thought.
