Relax...I'm just making fun of The Atlantic.

I get it. Personally I’m torn on this bc I feel people should have the freedom to do it but I also know people who profit on gambling understand human psychology and try to exploit people’s weaknesses.

L'Auberge Baton Rouge made $12 million last month. Just one month. That's just one of the Casinos here. Let that sink in.

And that was down almost 10% from August 23.

Pre-election bullshite.

I don't support sports betting, but it looks like someone wants to blame betting for all of society's woes.

deleting savings: inflation is not a factor???
increased bankruptcy risk: high housing expenses, inflation aren't factors?

I get it. You could call your bookie at 2am. Difference is that before you had to know a bookie and be good with doing something illegal. Now you just need to know how to access the internet.

It should be like cigarettes, legal but not encouraged. Not advertised as glamorous, fun, sexy.

Couple things here.

Legal gambling like we have now is much more accessible. It’s not like the local bookies have apps.

I have a brother at LSU and his friends bet every night on stupid shite because it’s right there on there phone to do.

Problem is they don’t do it smartly. They all do these ridiculous parlays which is basically like playing the lottery. And the apps push parlays with bonuses and boosts.

Online money lost which is in the billions is
84% on parlays
10% on online casino
6% on straight bets

Be smart if your doing to do it!

I bet on weekends sometimes but I go to the Sportsbook and bet one game. If I had that app I’d prob be betting on the 11:59 pm Hawaii kickoff

This is about what I expected.l from it.

It just further separates the haves and the have nots.

I’m sorry but when I see those NFL fan fight videos I doubt any of them have savings.

I did more sports gambling before it was legal here. The problem for me is that I'd have to bet more than I'm willing to for it to be enough money to care about. Winning $100 and then still having to pay taxes on that doesn't excite me at all.

It should be like betting on stocks in a margin account at a brokerage. Not any person off the street can place shorts and options. You have to apply and meet certain financial qualifications, or at least you used to. In other words, you should need more than a bank account, email address, and $200 to gamble online. In person at a sports book, different story. But clicking buttons on phone, there should be more restrictions.

That's my position.

By this logic, why is alcohol legal? Protecting stupid people from bad decisions is not the government’s job.

I only bet promos. Boosts, no sweat bet etc… . My average bet is approximately $10. I deposited a couple hundred across various books. My current winnings are about $6000. I don’t know anything more than the average player. Most of the time I just pick something knowing I have a mathematical advantage.

And they can’t get it through their heads that no one gives a flying frick about their parlay either. I’m sick and tired of hearing about betting constantly
