What dealer did you use?

Banner Chevrolet is cheaper than the quick oil change places and that’s with a tire rotation.

Banner charged me. $170 for earl, earl filter and air filter.

I’ll just get filters from Napa and get Rick Breenes to change.

Took a Passat to Benny's on Coursey one time and about a week later the front half of the under tray fell down while going through Austin by the car dealerships when they had all that construction. Like 2002 or 3. About a half mile of it just slinging rocks and shite up into the serpentine belt before an exit to a dealership. The under tray fits in the trunk.

do you honestly believe that the filter was never part of the price of an oil change?

This should have been the first response. Anytime I look over the work being done after an oil change, it will say oil+filter. Unless there’s a promo, you’re paying for the oil+filter+labor.

Do mine every time. Runs about $80 for 13 quarts and a filter. Same for fuel filter. Oil change takes 15-20 start to finish. Don’t mess with wife’s Lexus.

I've always just done my own. My old man made me learn and do my own when I started driving. Now in my 40s I enjoy doing it and kinda look forward to it.

I also look forward to changing my own oil: I know exactly what oil/filter is in my engines
(Mobil 1 high mileage + filter), they purr like kittens, and I have a sense of pride knowing I did it myself and for much cheaper/superior quality.

To each his own.

Are there any accountants on here ? I was told it had to do with breaking out merchandise vs labor on the invoice.
