Imagine a Turduckhen style meat dish of:

Hippo
Nutria
Raccoon

Wrap it all up and bake.

That would be interesting. But baws would be getting attacked in the bayous. Though they eat the invasive water weeds.

My wife’s grandpa. Yes they served it, along with a host of other exotic animals. We have an original Menu along with some dishes from there.

Is there a way you can post an image of the original menu? Old menu’s are pretty cool

Hippos kill more people than any other animal on earth, I believe.

If you don't count humans, they are tied with Elephants for 8th with about 500 deaths per year. If you also don't count animals that simply deliver parasites or diseases like Malaria, they are 5th.

I’m in Chicago right now, but will when I get home. It’s pretty damn cool. $2 for whole Main lobster!

Set in the Louisiana swamplands. Not out yet, thankfully.

Hunting them would be really expensive. The decoys themselves would be outrageous.

People would be in the spillway getting eat by alligators while they are trying to get away from hippos.

My first visit there was when I was around 12 and got to pick out a live lobster from the tank in the restaurant for them to cook. I do remember seeing exotic meats on the menu and can remember buffalo, elk, bear and I think they had tiger on the menu at that time.

I’ll bet elephants are around humans a lot more, skewing the results against them.

Yall got me curious to look, and I found a couple images of their menus. Just google image search for the name of the restaurant.
