She did Teach For America in Bessemer, then worked for their office. Ended up going to NYU law about a year after we started dating. Long distance and significant political disagreement (very amicable disagreement, though) made it a non-starter over the long term. She wanted me to go from UA to Columbia or NYU and live there for ~10 years. I said nah. Still good friends, though.

Yea someone willing to live in Crown Heights probably leans that way
And doesn’t make much

Her parents were very upset when she brought back a man that looked like he put their parents in the camps.

There are a lot of Hasidim there. She wasn't, but I think she managed to get an apartment based on her last name.

I moved there for the same reason all men do stupid shite, a woman. I had a blast for about the first 6 months but I'm not really a big city guy and it started to wear on me a bit.

I really missed not having a vehicle and living in a box made me kinda claustrophobic after a while.

Keep voting for DeBlasio types comrades. Soon your $20 million dollar apartments will be of, by, and for the people.

I went there every other month. I realized pretty quickly that I loved visiting, but I could never live there permanently. I'm too much of a proud Bama baw to be living like a damned sardine.

I do miss the food, though. Getting trashed and eating one of those jumbo $5 gyros from some Lebanese immigrant will forever be my favorite drunk snack.

Do you still retain your dialect, if you had one in the first place? I swear every single fricking person asked me about mine wherever I went. You'd think I was wearing overalls and had a fat chaw in my gums.

I’m from Charlotte
I’d say i didn’t have an accent to begin with, it’s very neutral, of course when I drink it comes out
And when it does they don’t really ask
My circle is so diverse (meaning from around the USA) that no one really cares
Everyone pretty much sounds the same

42 yr old me likes big cities less than I did at 22. I enjoy visiting but I couldn't live in one again. I'd like to downsize from Baton Rouge
