Why? This is the real world, not some fairy tale. Where did this “even if it saves one life” bullshite come from? It’s from selfish arse people who in reality want to control others because they are scared of either themselves or someone they love getting sick. It has nothing to to with the greater good.

Not advocating shutting things down -- I said that earlier. But those of us with family members who have compromised immune systems who are doing everything we can to safeguard them, to hear an a-hole comment "survival of the fittest" is a pretty dickish statement to make.

That was my only point.

So why enact totalitarian measures and scare the shut out of everyone while at the same time put over 10 million on unemployment and crash the economy?

God you sound like a massive bleeding vagina. Go sit in your fricking basement corner and cower in fear. People like you are the what’s scary - panicking pussies that are afraid of their own shadows.

No. That is exactly why staying at home is complete overkill. Most people can handle this just fine, hell many without knowing it.

If you are susceptible to disease YOU stay the frick home. Let the rest of us live our lives.

Your anecdote is like telling the story of one person who couldn’t handle the devils lettuce and saying that’s why it should be illegal.

Our very foundation is individual freedoms not this BS.

I think that's just the issue, PARTICULARLY with the state of Louisiana. You have a toolpusher on an oil rig, mid 40's, not extremely heavy, but medically obese and pre-diabetic. Say 6'1" 240 with a bit of muscle. He has no idea because he's about average weight compared to his friends. Some are skinny twigs, some are fat lardasses pushing 300 at the same height, he's right in the middle.

This man is susceptible. And the issue is that there are a ton of people in Louisiana who have underlying health issues and they don't know it because they have such a relaxed attitude about their health standards.

Your story is why we should NOT be scared. There are potentially millions of people already infected that thought they only had the flu. If the death rate of this is 0.1% instead of what is being reported that is very good news

idk. depends. She had had pneumonia multiple times.

I agree. But this attitude has morphed into this flippant, "frick the weak" attitude. And if you claim you havent noticed that you are a liar or willfully unobservant.

Subtle I don't have fat friends so recovering just fine

I'm fat and had it in early February for about 12 days. But I work out and waddle(cardio) often. The main difference from the flu I had in 2019 is the exhaustion was debilitating and wouldn't go away after I sat down for.a minute. For example say after taking out the trash, I'd sit down for 30-45 seconds and wonder wtf is wrong with me? Am I going to die of lethargy and exhaustion. Then I'd feel better later.

I am definitely gonna get me an antibody test if they become readily available in near future.

You don't know this. I get that you strongly believe that you had it, but unless you've had the antibody test you shouldn't be saying this as fact.

A friend of mine's wife had symptoms: fever, cough, bad body aches, etc. She got tested and tested positive for Covid. My friend had a fever for ONE day (100.3) and had no other symptoms. He also tested positive. He had a fever for that one day and felt fine after.

Basically, he never would have known he had it if his wife hadn't been seriously sick. He would have shrugged it off as a small bug.

I know I'm repeating what everyone is saying, but that's why staying home is so important and this is why so many people are getting sick. We will probably all have it as some point, and most of us won't even realize it.

Friend's wife is recovering, btw. She didn't have breathing issues, just what she describes as "exhaustion and aches".

This makes it sound like people are panicking over a virus that isn't anywhere near as deadly or dangerous as the flu or other known viruses.

Because it's like a bad cold for many people? That's why it's scary?

This happens everywhere all the time. We are just hyper aware of this one bug. Welcome to life on Earth, where you simply cannot micromanage biology.

This flies in the face of nearly all data but whatever.

The VAST majority of those tested, test negative.
