Hell Yes. Make it a standard too.
Not a bad thing but you are the outlier in the truck world. Every manufacturer knows the research. First time truck buyers are overwhelmingly coming from luxury suv's and they are looking for luxury. The average truck buyer is a weekend warrior and maybe uses a truck to tow or haul once a month.
The truck market has become a luxury market and prices have followed. The guys who want a plain ole truck and will use it like a truck daily are rare.

That and the amount of people that feel obligated to purchase a new car/truck every 4-5 years. Most cars today are engineered to go 200k miles with regular maintenance, but so many Americans view their cars as status symbols and they have to keep up with the Jones's.
The mom of one of my kid's friends (no pics of any of them) leases a new car every 3 years. She drives about 15K miles per year, 3 years, turns it in, leases a new car for 3 years, rinse and repeat.
She is a single mom and doesn't want to ever have to deal with car repairs. She brings the car to the same dealership she leases from for regular maintenance.
She says she is used to paying a monthly payment for the car, so it's in her budget, and that's that.
She is a nurse, for what it's worth, so not like her car is a big deal for driving clients around or something.

It won't change until people stop paying it.
The car dealerships have convinced 95% of Americans of two things.
1) "Price" is irrelevant, it's all about how much you pay each month
2) It's ok to always pay each month
If interest rates ever go up, car prices might come down in order to maintain the monthly payment.

Don’t be a moron. Got rid of my ride of 1.5 years for $9k more than I paid. The used market is hot AF.
Then you need to put in hours of work to find a better newer vehicle. Be patient if you have another vehicle to use…
You either spend less and downgrade from your vehicle or spend more money to upgrade.
Looking at it from a financial standpoint, you’re not saving any money unless you downgrade to an older and less expensive vehicle. You’re unlikely to upgrade to a newer model without spending an additional couple or several thousand dollars. But hey, to each his own.

Wrong, upgraded a year and a trim package.

The dealer I use keeps calling me to trade in my truck. I am thinking about just selling it to them. Every few weeks they call with a higher price. It is getting hard to ignore.

Screw that.

The bottom isn't going to fall out of the new car market anytime soon. Where we're reaching the tipping point is the used car market. Pretty soon all those high dollar trade ins are going to be left sitting on lots and dealers are either going to have to take losses or try to recoup the losses elsewhere, like in the new car market by keeping prices high. Trade in values are already fallen and they're about to hit a cliff.
As for waiting for the 2021s to hit the lot, it's a risky play. By then the dollar could be so deflated that the price drops almost zero because the dollar is worth that much less.

How will Scruffy's patients know he's a good doctor if he doesn't rep the brand? You need to be making payments on a Benz, or at least a Lexus, and an airplane (try not to crash it).

As someone who has zero issue spending ridiculous amounts of money on cars for fun BUT keeps a travel car for work and is super frugal about that consider a ~4yo Lexus ES when it is time to retire your current car.
I average 55k miles a year on my travel car and my current ES has ~430k miles on it and has had less than $1,700 in repairs done to it. If you drive a car until the wheels fall off it is hard to beat the cost per mile over the long haul without resorting to living with no AC. They are comfortable mile eaters and are as cheap as a Camry to repair and nearly any indy repair shop can deal with them. They have higher quality interior materials so they look nicer then the Canry for much longer.

Thus my above comment to Scruffy.
Lexus makes a quality vehicle.
