You realize that statistically, that people who have expensive weddings, their marriages don't last. It's the kiss of death. A marriage built on shallow, superficial stuff to impress other people...

I commented on the last thread about this that we only spent $4-500 but like always I remembered wrong. Wife said we spent about 3k on our wedding. Flowers, cake which wasn’t big enough, some food but not much, minister, using the church and whatever else. I think we invited maybe 50 people and wedding part lasted maybe 20 minutes, “reception” maybe an hour, oh and cameraman.
We are still married 10 years later and even happier now than we were then. I didn’t want a big wedding and she was cool with it. Mostly just didn’t want to have to stand up there in front of 100s of people, frick all that. Honestly my step mom made the reception much better than it would have been, if not for her would have been a royal screw up

That is a ridiculous amount of $. My granddaughter is getting married in November and costs will be under $15,000 for church wedding and reception at an all inclusive venue. And that price includes her dress and veil Some people are just not very smart!!!

Like i said earlier, we spent maybe $5k on our wedding, had about 200 guests, and reception in the church reception hall, finger foods, etc. Everyone loved it and had a nice time.
That's so sad. Being from redneckville, that's the only kind of wedding I had attended growing up. I hated them. Glad almost nobody does these lame weddings anymore, at least not anyone I know.

I haven’t read this entire thread, but let me guess how it’s gone:
Ten pages of the same posters who call others “poor” for driving a Honda rather than a $100k+ vehicle are the same ones calling anyone who spends a lot on a wedding stupid.

Damn
I don’t even think $15k even covered the cost for the orchids we had displayed throughout the venue at my wedding.

Yep.
And not serving a full meal at a 2pm wedding is a no-no apparently as well.

That and filled with examples of how all the posters spent like $4k and are still married, so obviously spending more than that is a guaranteed waste of money and/or divorce.

My wedding was pushing 100 grand. Me and the wife somewhat regret it now.

You paid for your wedding? You did it all wrong.

Man, I bet you are great husband material. What a lucky lady.

This is the gist of it.. except $50k seems to be the threshold that has been deemed ridiculous.
I also get the impression that a lot of posters generally hate weddings. Personally, I love them. Great food, free alcohol, running into old friends, good music to dance to with a band. What’s not to like?

Where are these stats? I’d love to read up on this

Women with the "princess" complex are the worst to deal with in life, I bet your brother's girlfriend has a fuzzy little dog.

We did our homework. We grow orchids, but won’t have those at the wedding.

It’s easy to hit $50K and above. There was a wedding and reception at Broel House on St. Charles with 12 guests, $36,000. That is just beyond stupid. There are many places that charge $100 -$150 per head for a reception in New Orleans and some don’t include alcohol or linens. Lots of add ons. As retired grandmother of the bride I had a lot of time to do research and it paid off.

He should dump that high maintenance piece of arse.
The only people that should have expensive weddings are the ones that can afford it.

TBH, I have no issue with people who actually have wealth having baller weddings. I’m talking 6 figure weddings.
I don’t really understand middle class people hurting themselves to have a $50k one though.
