Toyota 4Runner Owners, your thoughts?

My oldest daughter had one. 2018 Limited. It was recently totaled. Not her fault.

The frame was compromised. It was valued at just over $31K, and the cost to repair exceeded what the insurance company's threshold.

Solid vehicle, it protected her. I felt it was behind on technology for its model year. The newly redesigned ones appear much nicer.

Amazing reliability

Severely lacking in comfort and performance

And definitely NOT a ‘wife’s car’

I wouldn't even bother, about the only changes is in 2020 they added Car Play and adaptive cruise control, other than that they're indistinguishable from 2014-2024.

I'm wondering if it'll be a situation like with the Tundras where the NA versions hold value well as people are shy of the turbo offerings.

Toyota is even putting the 2.4L in their damn Land Cruisers now

This is what blows my mind. You're better off with the 4-runner value wise or just get the Lexus.

mine is a 2015 with 200k miles; just saying if i had to i'd go for another one like that vs the new one they just released even if the body style looks 'dated'.

there's a reason they are still selling the frick out of 15 year old trucks. why fix what's working?

I just saw an all white 2002 Limited earlier today that has me wanting to track down another 3rd gen and throw the TRD blower on it. Looked just like this

I always wanted one of these in Thundercloud Metallic.

Where are you located? There's a 2002 Limited 4x4 listed local to me with a blown trans but it already has the TRD supercharger for $1700. I'm capable of swapping a trans but my wife might make me sleep in it if I brought it home.

ETA: It's Thundercloud Metallic

Other than a couple of small interior features (power windows and locks are in a weird spot and the drivers visor is too fat for a garage door opener to stay on it) it's as good of a vehicle as you could possibly find. Great vehicle to pass down through the family for the next 20 years.

I drive a 2022 TRD Off Road
Bought youngest a 2014 SR5 with 87k miles in mint condition.

Things are almost exactly the same car.

We dig them and they are simply trucks. Simplistic and thirsty AF

I’m on my 2nd 4Runner and I love it. Our 4WD model rode smoother, but we purchased this one at the end of 2021 & took what we could get. They are incredible in terms of resale.

2004 4Runner with the 4.0.

Approx 190K miles.

Most of the emblems have fallen off.
All the exterior weatherstrips are fried.
Needs new struts and shocks.
Only thing I’ve had to change (other than routine maintenance) was a front wheel bearing assembly.

I’m gonna roll this bitch til it doesn’t roll anymore! Lol

‘18 yrs premium, It’s a great overland vehicle. Underpowered and about as trouble free as you could ask for. We’ve done both passes from Lake City to Silverton with no issues, Have camped in the rooftop tent at 10,500. The 18 model GPS is junk, I’ll be swapping out for a CarPlay head unit at some point.

In town I sure like whipping into parking spots that the truck would never have a chance with. A/C is great.
