The Doctors at Oschner were definitely blaming Oschner for this not the state.
I know the guy who is heading this initiative from Ochsner on the first contact/ER side.
He’s livid at the the state right now. Ochsner on Jefferson in NOLA is the largest hospital in the state and sits in the middle of a hot zone and he can’t get the LA Dept. of Health to expand testing parameters.
He also told me last Monday that thousands already have it.
Are you not running fever?

I’m on day nine of feeling like shite. Whatever it is has settled in my lungs . I think I’m almost out of the woods but the wheezing is like a horror movie . It sounds bad but my actual breathing is perfectly fine. I’ve left the house briefly just twice since the 6th and have had no real income in that time. But I feel lucky because...
Two of my family members died today. My BIL ( love that guy ) of cancer and my first cousin’s 2 year old grandson in the DC area of sudden pneumonia. Sending up a prayer for that little guy I never met.

Strangely enough none of us are running a fever although all of us are experiencing elevated heat on our forehead, face, ears, and back of neck. We also all are flush or pinkish red in the face.
The original CDC guidance said you had to have a fever but I'm hearing from the Doctors that more and more people are coming in without a fever symptom unless the person is in extreme distress from the virus.

We tested relatively young people (sub 50) at ochsner. This is inpatient though.
Are you trying that mid city one?
Also fever is only in 1/3 or so patients. Cough is actually the most common.

Exactly.
There of tons of people in my social circle that have the same symptoms - chest tightness and fatigue - but no fever.
I wonder how many people actually have this.
How many days have you had symptoms?

OPH have been inconsistent with allowing us who and who not to test.
Hospitals are outsourcing already, but this is a week too late while we have another few hundred tests at oph sitting there while they "ration"

Is fever a sign of a more serious course for the virus?
ETA: I have had tightness in my chest and a very mild cough for eight days. I would never go to see a doctor for this because I basically feel fine other than that.

I'm on Day 5 since I actually noticed it.

Tell them you been to the asian massage parlor and that should qualify you for the corona test
Posted on 3/14/20 at 7:04 pm to Antonio Moss
Not that we're aware of. Quickly increasing oxygen requirements seem to be a very worrisome sign, some hospitals in Washington have preemptively intubated and prone people

If Texas can get this process in place this quick then what in the hell is wrong with Louisiana?
It's not like plenty of us don't try to tell you very often on here.
Just remember, this thing will either kill you or blow over regardless of your ability to get the test. Just stay at home and relax. Treat your symptoms as they happen.

This is what pissed me off and that is I had direct exposure to an individual who tested positive by the CDC yesterday, I have all the symptoms, and would like to know so I can alert the group of conference attendees I was with to self-quarantine. I'm not going to alert anyone unless I know for a fact which only comes from a positive result of the test. I do not want to panic people without 100% proof.

Heck no. Don’t smoke, 54, healthy. But I do get severe bronchitis probably every 12-18 months over the last 20 years. It’s always been a secondary bacterial infection after a cold or UPI which is what I assume this is.

No offense but this seems pretty fricking stupid and selfish. You came in direct contact with someone who tested positive. You have all the symptoms and drs think you have it and told you to quarantine. Not telling people is a pretty a-hole move.
ETA: you can make it explicitly clear that you were not tested, but in the mean time anyone you came in contact with is now coming across and making contact with other people.

So MrLsu, you are self quarantining at home? If you test positive, did they want you to come back?

I am self quarantining at home. No they said if the symptoms get worse then to head to the emergency room ASAP but if they didn't to just ride it out at home.
