To be fair, it is isnt exactly an invasion. We just went in to take him out (he was probably given up by his peers). There's an opposition party that's pro US that's arguably won the last 3 presidential elections waiting to take power.

Not much of an invasion. Trump is proving to everyone that we don't need long, drawn out "conflicts" to solve our problems.

Appreciate the clarification, that does make me feel less wrong and less dumb.
And your point about having a stable opposition party is the main reason I’m not freaked out about this. Venezuela has a chance to go back to a functional democracy if they can avoid/limit in-fighting.
I think reasonable people can disagree about whether this was the right thing for the US to do, but I think we all have a reason to be hopeful at the moment.
