Funny, black kids who I went to school with after integration were from decent families. The culture has eroded tremendously over the past 40 years.

Until you end the "baby daddy" concept that controls the lower classes it will continue to get worse and behavior more pathological.

Black cultural erosion since integration seems to be the driver moreso than the soy boys fantasies of white oppression.

So you're saying when my kids are out of high school, I need to go north or west to get away from this shite? Tennessee and Kentucky look mighty nice.

Seems a bit paranoid. Just curious given your interests and knowledge of various topics over the years. You seem qell traveled.

You may go back to bickering with Roger I guess. Always a good time.

Haven’t read through six pages. But I’m guessing a bunch of people who would never consider themselves to be racist are saying vaguely racist things.

Look how well it's turned out for the south since integration. Schools are violent and failed, 80 percent of violent crime is done by blacks and welfare is overwhelmingly distributed to blacks by percentage of population. Seems like our forebears knew better than their descendants what they were dealing with.

I don’t think black southerners and blacks in general have done well. 60% of the murders come from 13% of the population. About 30% of black men are expected to serve time in prison during their lives. It’s 4% for whites.

I find you and Obtuse interesting because of your breadth of at least conversational knowledge of a lot of topics.

And now the DEA's got a chopper in the air
I wake up screamin' like I'm back over there
I learned a thing or two from Charlie, don't you know?
You better stay away from Copperhead Road

Comes from completely giving up TV in 2006 (save for the occasional TV show I binge all at once) and then reading around 150 pages every night up until a few years ago. I'm getting back into it though but I have a kid and a wife now.

Also I did The Great Books program from St. John's College when I was in undergrad.

Now, you should post a map of US Hispanic population by county. It's a mirror image in the Southwest.

You understand this is a map that represents the percent of a county that is Black Americans, not the total number, right? Take for example Dallas County, Alabama, with 38k people, with 26k being Black Americans. It will be represented as darker on the map than a place like Seattle, where Black American households represent something like 7 or 8 percent of the population. The total population of Black Americans in those areas (namely cities where Black Americans were not immediately disenfranchised during the post-CW era) will exceed the population of rural counties where Black Americans may represent a higher total of the population. What this means is that Black Americans did move in large numbers to industrial centers in the North and West, often in greater numbers than the entire population of the counties from which they originated. How are you not understanding this?

Not sure I’m the one who doesn’t understand. The majority of the US black population lives in the south. Sorry that bothers you.

It doesn't. But when several people in this thread have asked why Black Americans didn't move, a massive proportion of them did. Your graph illustrates that even further. In addition, if you were to be granular about the demographic trends, you'd see that even those majority Black American counties are losing population to urban areas, which again have jobs. Of course the larger proportion are going to be in places where they 'originated' for lack of a better term, but that doesn't dispel the degree to which internal migration in the US was prevalent.

The US itself is a beacon of integration at all levels of society. Integration is difficult, but the US has done it way better than pretty much every other area of the world.

Just imagine, perhaps, if Eli Whitney had not invented the cotton gin.

Prior to his invention slavery was on a downward trend because

cotton was not profitable because the seeds had to be removed by hand.
