Thankfully, we are very lenient and can do just about whatever we want. I get 3 weeks annually and love that we can take small chunks at a time if we prefer. My favorite is using a vaca day before a 3 day weekend. I take off on Fridays a lot.

While I was in school, I worked at a bank - they force you to take your 2 week vaca all at once. When I asked why, they said it's bank policy for embezzlement reasons. If your gone for 2 weeks, your misappropriations will surface. Not sure if all banks are that way, but it makes sense to me.

I take a week off max. Lots of 3-4 day weekends.

I’m guessing those with 5 weeks vacation are on PTO, where you have to use a day of PTO if you want Memorial Day off or you are sick. I’m also guessing those with 2-3 weeks vacation get holidays off and a separate allotment of sick days.

rarely use the sick time. A few days here and there if one of the kids are sick and need to stay home from school. But my wife only works part time so that’s only if it is one of her scheduled work days.

You’re not using your sick days correctly. I use mine just like vacation except just one day at a time. I just take off and let them know if it’s a vacation or sick day when I get back

My vacation and sick is all in one PTO bank. Lately...I've had to use PTO for health reasons and for stuff relating to my dad.

To answer the question...I prefer small chunks of time off.

I like to take about a 14 day vacation, including weekends, then take some smaller chunks. I've got the last 17 days in October off. Gonna be fricking great.

I get 15 days a year, so it kinda just depends. Next year I'm probably gonna do a lot of 3-day weekends, and then mix in one week-long trip.

My boss would shite a brick if I request over two weeks off.

I sell some of my PTO back at my hourly wage rate.

All at once. Our annual two week trip to somewhere incredible far outweighs the utility we would get out of the typical Baton Rougean's 8 trips to Destin each year.

I don’t have any paid vacation time or paid sick time. I own my own medical practice.

Consider yourselves fortunate.

I do mine mostly in small chunks. I always have a family vacation in June then a hunting trip the week between christmas and new years. Besides those, I don't really take PTO. I'm fortunate that if I need a Friday off, I can take it whenever without using PTO since I work 5-10s and get my 40 hours in M-Th. For instance I had to take last Friday off for a funeral and instead of using 8 hrs of PTO, which takes about 3 weeks to earn 8 hours, I'll just take a little less on my paycheck and save the hours for an eventual extended trip.

I have 6 weeks and usually take days as I need them. If I want to go to Texas to visit my kid and catch a football game or something I'll take Friday(unless it's my off day) and Monday off. I don't take long chunks until Christmas time when I usually take 2-3 weeks. Every year I usually have a week left to carry over to the next year.

I work 9/80s and have paid holidays. This year i I'll be able to use two vacation days and have more than a week off around christmas. I usually take my vacation in 2 or 3 day chunks during hunting season (when i have a friday off anyway I'll take a thursday and a monday off) and then the week around christmas is during the rut so that is perfect.
