This is one I took and labeled to show people how far you can see on a clear night. There are nights when flying over central Louisiana where I can see Monroe on one side and Houma, New Orleans and platforms offshore on the other. Literally can see the whole state north to south.

Please school me on geography. I feel dumb and don’t see how this is correct. I feel like I’m gonna have an ah ha moment with the answer
Like I said, on cold clear nights, especially in winter, you can see a long ways.

What I was referring to was flying eastbound, south of Alexandria, LA and seeing the lights of Monroe, LA on my left, and all of south Louisiana on my right. Look at a map of Louisiana.

The pic I posted was taken over Crowley, LA headed east.

Just curious...

Say I had a Gulfstream G150, but needed a pilot. And let's just say I needed to fly from rural Alabama to NYC. What would it cost to hire a pilot to fly to NYC and back?

Hypothetically, how difficult would it be to hire a pilot, such as yourself, to fly me to NYC then fly back 28 days later and fly me back home?

Nothing ignorant about it, valid question.

Last time I flew a piston aircraft was 13 years ago and I only have about 70 hours in them, out of thousands of hours of flying.

Walking up to it cold and just flying it depends. If it's a 172/182, I'd be ok I think.

A bonanza/cirrus/any complex aircraft... I could do it, but would be worried about operating limitations. Ideally I'd be able to study a POH and have a CFI on board for a couple of bounces.

I need to get back to GA. Don't love flying as much as I used to and it's because I only do it for a living now. Can't imagine doing anything else for the same money, but it just feels like a job most days.

And I've been telling my boys I'll take them flying for a while now, need to make time for it and show them the fun side of flying.

It's definitely fancy. Nothing has ever been air dropped across that ramp. Way too clean and the anti skid is perfectly intact. Looks like a Marine/Navy KC refueler.

Has externals and what I'm assuming are drogue pods.

Just for the pilot? Probably around $2K per day, give or take a few hundred bucks. But you’ll likely be paying for 2 pilots.

Are you still flying 320's in Canada? I believe thats what you told me you were doing last time we talked about career stuff. Could be way off on my part.

Welcome to the dark side. See you around!

I'm going left seat on the bus in March. Get ready to speak french again. It's inevitable here.

I do miss the tray table and not having to eat a meal in my lap.

You ever planning on jumping over to the 330?

Can’t touch it yet as an FO in Atlanta. I can in other bases, but hate commuting.

I’ll probably be a 320A until I can hold 330/350 A in 15 years most likely. Barring a downturn.

May move over to the ER once my seat lock is up. I want to fly it before it’s gone. Only reason I didn’t go to it now is because I don’t know the airplane and didn’t want to be learning how to be an airline captain in a new airframe.

Flew through a full circle rainbow last week. That was neat. Had never seen one before.

If you were a little more north, you could just about see my house.

Awesome shot

I’ve spent my whole life believing you live on/near Lake Lanier in Georgia.

I feel like someone just told me about Santa.

He did, but retired to south Florida a few years ago.
