They call it north Louisiana because they sided with the Yankees during the war of northern aggression

New Orleans and Baton Rouge are leftist due to demographics. Most of South LA is red.

North Louisiana can't cross the border to come and buy alcohol though.

North Louisiana would be unbelievably poor without daddy Orleans and EBR paying all the bills

What???

This isn’t true at all. The oil and gas mineral revenue produced in North Louisiana helps float the State’s budget. North Louisiana sees a comparatively low return on its tax dollars sent to Baton Rouge.

To be fair, south Louisiana has been trying to give north Louisiana to Arkansas for years.

What we truly need is for Orleans Parish to be carved out and no longer be part of the state. We can lease it to Haiti .

We sure did.

'After Union General Nathaniel Banks captured Port Hudson in May 1863, Louisiana’s state capital officially moved to Shreveport, where it remained until the end of the war. The 43,000 Confederate soldiers in Shreveport were the last major Confederate force to surrender in early June 1865.'

Illinois is the state that most needs to be bisected.

The southern part is all God fearing farmers and factory workers while Chicago and its endless suburbs just stomp them to death with taxes and liberal legislation. It's like living in Indiana and being ruled by China.

North Louisiana is such a useless shithole that I don’t think a split would work well for them.

Split the boot and the north would be the hard leg while the south would be the sole.

Frankly, there are a number of states in this predicament :

Washington
Oregon
California
Illinois
Pennsylvania
New York
Massachusetts
Michigan

Just to name a few

Yes, yes it is. The severance taxes derived from North Louisiana are substantial. Sales taxes are not what sustains the state’s budget.

North Louisiana can stand on its own just fine. The problem is that it doesn’t get a proportionate return on state revenue from Baton Rouge.

South Dakota has a lot of natives, so your point here is correct.
