What age did you stop believing wrestling was real? For me I was 12, it was far worse than finding out about Santa.

I was probably 10.

Remember Eugene?

My dad told us from the earliest age that it was fake. Even as a little kid, I knew that if a 250 pound man stomps another man in the face with his boot or repeatedly punches him in the face, and there is not even a bloody nose to show for it, something's up.

That said, I was the only kid in school who thought it was fake. Other kids would want to fight me for making such a claim. A friend's father got red in the face and legit pissed at me when we were watching Midsouth at their house and I commented that it was all rigged.

It’s a mixture of athleticism and acting. I don’t see why that bothers people.

But I found out around 10 and was crushed.

I would just like to say and I know many people will agree that it is totally unfathomable for me to ever watch professional wrestling on television.

I personally have a very difficult time understanding its appeal in our society.

My dad told me from jump. At this point, I wish all sports would go the ‘entertainment’ direction.

I don’t think I ever thought it was real.

I’ve never understood the appeal and even 5 year old DtG thought it to be pretty trashy

I can't watch bad movies, but some people love them especially because they're bad. I feel it's along those lines.

My dad let us know early. When me and brother were wrestling or roughhousing, he would say “do like they do on tv and make it fake”

Is there like a strict plot for the whole thing? Or is some of an improv?

This. From the first time I saw it as a kid my dad would tell us it was fake. Every time he would surf the three channels, we had at the time and came across professional wrestling he would state it was fake and move on to something else on TV.

It was harder back then as a kid to understand what it was. There was no internet and dirt sheets. They kept it pretty close to the vest too. Easier to hide. I don’t remember how old I was.

My kid was about 10-11. I still enjoy watching just for the storylines, production, how they work in the ring leading up to the finish. I’ve seen enough pro wrestling in my life to skip over the filler, typical “wrestling” to start matches. It’s a show, after all. And the nostalgia for me is what allows me to watch as well.

Watched WM this weekend with my kid (13) and he was right there beside me “oh, he didn’t execute that one right. Looked rough.” “That was better”. “This character is terrible (DemonBalor)”

All in all, still entertaining if you watch it for different reasons and understand what’s going on. Same as a movie. Some are really bad, some are excellent.
