$85K

I’d say a good salary is taking home at least $9K a month.
Of course, it depends on your lifestyle, family and spending habits.
If you have a spouse that works and collectively can take home $12K a month, there’s no reason that can’t be a comfortable life.

Which would you choose?
The guy making 500k a year can retire young if he hates his job and do whatever he wants. The person living their best life now is going to have to keep the hustle into old age. To be honest, I would probably trade 10-15 years of misery for 30-40 years of financial security.

The amount you earn is not near as important as how much you spend....

Gimme that 500K for 10-12 years tops.
Then you keep on living that 120K dream. I will write you from my Med beachside to check on you.

Nothing under $10M is a "good" salary.

I don't have a salary, but my wife does. I think her salary is about $120, somewhere in that ball park.
I work on my land, fish and do woodworking projects, furniture for my house and trinkets (cutting boards, picture frames, etc) to give away to people i like.
Finished oiling this sucker this morning

Wife and I combined make between 100 and 110k depending on my bonuses each year. We live comfortably enough. But i have a fairly low house note due to years of rolling equity from previous houses into ours and the low interest rate we have plus very affordable healthcare thru my job.
I would think someone starting out now would need to make 140- 150k at least to live the same comparable lifestyle I currently live.

It’s all relative to your personal social-status and living expectations.
I see families live well on $60 - $75,000 salaries.
Others struggle to make it on $125,000 salaries.
Others were born into a high socioeconomic lifestyle that requires exorbitant amounts of wealth.
1 amount of money is not the standard for everyone.
A better question is, what is the salary that you live on and how is your life, relative to money, living conditions and happiness.

A good budget is more important than a good salary.

Depends on your lifestyle and spending habits. I make close to $500k/year but my lifestyle hasn’t really changed since I made $100k/year. Just more in savings.
Same question could be asked for retirement. It’s all about your selfishness and desires on how much you want to keep driving that $80k coffin to a job you hate so you can afford to get there
People laugh at my Tundra with 250,000 miles and the fact I’ve paid cash for all my possessions but I have f*** you money.in the bank so I don’t do anything at 48 that I don’t want to do.

your question makes no sense because depends on what you do and level of experience...
i mean 75k would be a good salary for a teacher
that 75k would be a good salary for an engineer just starting but would be terrible for someone with zero experience.
not to mention where you are. a software coding engineer in San Fran isnt going to consider 100k a good salary but one in BR might.
its just a question that makes no sense overall
and then you will have guys that say they consider 100k a good salary but they have to work 500 hours overtime to get it

I guess depends on what kind of lifestyle you want and if kids are in the equation.
I live pretty much the exact same way that I did when I was making $50k a year. I'm beyond double that and I have friends who make the same and always seem to be upping their standard of living every time they get a raise. My bills run around $1200/month so I'm able to save a pretty good bit and still do whatever the hell I want within reason.
I could still make it on 50k a year without adjusting how I live by much.

I make $120k and my wife (no pics) makes $80k. 2 teens at home. We live just fine in south TX.
And yeah, I know I’m poor bc the wife works lol

It's not how much you make, but how much you owe.
