Reddit doesn't like the answer, so it won't allow a straight answer to be posted there.

Was there last summer making a hunt with outfitter in NW Province close to Botswana. Flew into Johannesburg and got a sense of unease as soon as my feet hit the ground. Government officials driving BMW X5s, barb wire fences surrounding almost every single middle class home we drove by. Each concession we hunted was run by a white farmer who happily greeted us with 30 rd mags of .556 locked and loaded “just in case”. The EFF or Economic Freedom Fighters are a legitimately recognized political party who wear the red barrets, and publicly call for the death of white people. Their rhetoric, along with the government repossessing property of white farmers, has inspired numerous young thugs to take action themselves. The hunting was amazing, but the country certainly seems to be collapsing.

To be fair, Reddit doesn't like anything associated with the term straight.

Progressives generally don't. Everything is Very. Serious. There is no room for humor in the Struggle and the Revolution, comrade.

Black people don't like white farmers that feed them, so they murdered them, and ruined their own farmland, because they don't like the white people who provided their food... that kid of covers it. Other part is they don't know how to harvest shite, because they've depended on the people they ousted to harvest it. It's a vicious cycle. Not allocated to just South Africa

You mean the same Reddit that bans anyone who doesn’t believe women have penises and men can get pregnant?
As to your question, as happened in Rhodesia years earlier, when white minority rule was ended and leadership was handed over to the black majority, the black majority in South Africa lacked the leadership structure, cultural mentality, and technical knowledge to maintain a modern country.
Put whatever label you want on that, but it’s the truth.

The fastest summary I can think of is they moved people with knowledge out of skilled positions in favor of people without said knowledge due to race. Every industry in the country.

I was in Joburg for a couple of weeks in 2018. My Zulu bartender told me, "South African blacks have no respect for life."
The *inner* courtyard at my Marriott hotel (The Protea across from the stock exchange) had razor wire on top of 10-12 foot fences. Every single housing compound that wasn't a slum had cinderblock walls 10+ feet high, with electric fencing on top of it, to then only be topped by concertina wire. The hotel staff made very clear that I was not to walk to the mall at Nelson Mandela square, in broad daylight, that was maybe 300 yards away, and needed to wait on the shuttle.
The client had two separate buildings on opposite sides of the street approx 100 yards from each other. My arab workmate refused to walk between the two because of perceived danger, and got an Uber to attend that meeting.
Part of the turnover was that the ANC dictated that employers needed a certain percentage of black employees, regardless of qualification. So you have things happening like power companies firring white engineers, and hiring those of the right color that barely understood what screwdrivers were for, etc.

I would try to give an an honest and accurate assessment of what happened, but Chicken will probably say I’m being racist and ban me.
I’ll just shut up and keep quiet instead.

I don't think that will end up being what you think it is now though.

The same thing that happened to Rhodesia.
Everyone should read When a Crocodile Eats the Sun. It’s a first hand account of the last days of Rhodesia. It will be exactly what happens to South Africa.

Very good book. Mukiwa, his book before crocodile, is about the bush war and very good as well.
Peter Godwin is my favorite modern author. All his books are excellent

I visited South Africa for two weeks in December 2019, and it was the best trip I’ve ever taken. The public safety wasn’t as bad then as it is now. Probably will never be able to go back.
We just went to Botswana, Zimbabwe, and SA in 2024. Best trip of our life. I will say there were some sketchy parts even though we booked through a luxury TA. The "handoff" to go from Botswana, which was an unreal safari, to Zimbabwe was a bit unnerving. We drove to the border and then paid for some visas with lots of shite happening all around. Then we had to walk ourselves through some fencing on each side with a good bit of eyes on us. The guy who brought us there watched us go through till we got the the guy on the other side who grabbed our bags and got us into the van. Walking around the little city for Victoria Falls we definitely were targets for beggars. We wouldn't have dared walk around at night. Then after our phenomenal safari at Sabi Sands we headed to Cape Town. We loved that place, but the hotel we stayed at which was 5-star and in a good area sent a guard with us one night to go for a walk to get ice cream. We didn't venture out at night the other nights.
