My cursive handwriting was/is turribul.
Once I took Mechanical Drawing in High School and learnt to print correctly, that is how I write anything I want anyone else to be able to read.
Even though I hand-write infrequently now, the slowing down to print makes my printing still look presentable.
I've got a good friend who is an architect, their handwriting should be a font. It's beautiful and legible.

Why come I don’t never write good with my hands no more?
Because finger typing is so much more easier and I like reading my phone that way too...

Neurological conditions like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s destroy your handwriting. It’s true

What makes your handwriting go to hell?
The simple act of picking up a writing stick. Always been that way.

I write extremely well in print. Not in cursive though. Never attempted to even write in script since high school. Whenever I have to write my signature, it always looked stupid as hell.

For me, it was my eyesight. A few years back, I started using readers in my shop part of the day. It ruined my eyesight. Now I cant do shite without them. In the meantime, my handwriting also went to shite. If I put the readers on, its much better.

This will help
Unfortunately, I am very familiar with neurological diseases. That's not the trouble.
Perhaps your link can help someone out there, though.

I have awesome handwriting. It's just after 20 minutes, I can't ledgibly understand what I've written.
