Throwing tantrums is what a three year old does. Cries and holds his breath for no reason because he didn't get what he wanted. And I don't know what the solution is. There is an unhinged psychotic unreasonable insane sect of our country that has an insatiable appetite for chaos and a terrifyingly fascist ideal that their beliefs are unquestionably correct and should be implemented no matter the cost.

Yep and there are no adults in the room to control these loonies bc the adults are leading the charge. They are petulant and childish and dangerous. Bc they are closed-minded and fueled by emotions instead of facts, they cannot be reasoned with. No matter what, Trump is Hitler. No matter what, Trump voters are fascist. I would not be shocked at all to see an assasination attempt on the president.

Everyone keeps saying "The Internet", but nobody ever explains why or how the Internet would cause a problem.

Hint: the Internet has nothing to do with problems in the world today, other than hacking now becoming a problem (but that's just another chapter in the eternal war of criminals and crime-stoppers).

Gen Xers need to quit blaming the Internet for their bad parenting. If there's a mass problem with a generation, it's probably their parents faults. A whole generation don't pop out of the womb any worse than the last one did.

How is the vocal minority gaining so much ground?

Because the internet. Specifically social media that gives a global stage for every idiot in the world to voice whatever runs through their head.

The internet gives worthless people an outlet to feel important. TV makes worthless people important

There has never been a means for worldwide same time constant validation of immature ideals and fostering the acceptance of psychotic tendencies before. There has never been a way for an entire segment of the population to shield itself in a bubble of nonsense and convince themeslevs that they are absolutely correct. It's not that social media has created these ideals. It's that every single person raging in their parents basement who used to just grow out of their stupid way of thinking now has an echo chamber. You used to have one village idiot. So when someone stepped out of line in a community the community put them in their place.

But now, all of those village idiots talk to each other everyday and feel an inflated sense of self importance and the community at large has not stepped up to check them.

The Internet has absolutely changed the way people act and perceive the world. To think differently is unbelievable to me.

You seriously are arguing that the Internet has had no impact on the first ever generation raised with it? Because it absolutely has. And it seems to be getting worse.

While I agree with the general sentiment of this thread, your generation blew 5 TRILLION dollars in iraq and Afghanistan (or silently permitted it) blowing up shite, building it back, and pissing off the Middle East. This is over 30k per US taxpayer.

But you won't be paying it because you'll start drawing on SS and Medicare.

So cheers for that.

Genuinely impressed with the lack of responsibility older generations take for the current state of affairs.

Once you become an adult it is time to stop fricking blaming mommy and daddy for your problems.

One of my favorite song lyrics of all-time:

Oh, what's that?
So now you say life sucks
Well, ninety-nine percent of it's
What you make of it...
So if your life sucks, you suck

Any parents who did not make their child clean his own room are to blame. It teaches at an early age that you are responsible for your own mess.

These kids grew up with no wars, no conflicts, no struggles, massive technology boom, no memory of a time before social media and cell phones and cable TV and Internet.

Yeah it's almost like most of us didn't grow up with the greatest tragedy to ever happen in this country followed by the longest war to date. We also didnt have a huge recession hit as soon as a lot of us were starting to get into the work force or start our careers. Also most of us didn't grow up with social media, cell phones and all this technology. Let's not forget all the revolutionaries in the 60s and 70s, the only difference is the microphone is louder today and easier to be heard. This country has a lot of problems and they are not caused by one generation or group of people.

I really don't think there's anymore or less "hurt feelings" than in any other time in our history. We just get to hear about it more, we happen to live in an era of social media and 24 hr news cycle, where any a-hole has a voice that can be heard far and wide. In the past that voice never would have been heard except for the few assholes they associated with. Also, moderation is boring, people only talk about extremes, same goes for the 24 hour news networks. Think about the use of superlatives when you listen to the news, it's pretty ridiculous. Everything is the most this or the worst that.

take everything with a grain of salt, things aren't that bad, we actually live in the best era in the history of the world.

To answer your question, we don't need to fix them, we just need to ignore them and quit "sharing" their stories.

Yes, a mostly war free existence. A fraction of our bravest have served throughout the Gulf Conflicts in comparison to WWI, WWII, & Vietnam. No draft. No continuous schedule of military funerals for nearly every male you knew growing up.

The last 30 years worth of young Americans have experienced such a glorious existence & they're ungrateful for it. Nor are they striving to keep things peaceful.

Just because you have an opinion & your feelings are hurt does mean the world owes you attention or an apology.
