We went to Vegas a couple weeks ago, we were walking out of our hotel when we were stopped by a member of hotel staff to get us to sign up for a timeshare presentation.
My wife, of course, was interested in the perks. Which were 2 show tickets to a list of about 8-10 shows and 2 free tickets to the High Roller wheel in return for us attending a 2 hour presentation and $40 fee per person.
I visibly didn't want to be listening to them and wasn't interested at all, so the guy talking to us asked if we would be more interested if they made it free, no cost to us but our time and they would even throw in $75 in meal vouchers. I finally said fine, whatever, let's just get it over with.
They shuttled us over to this new hotel they opened, met with the salesman. They fed us lunch and walked us around the hotel, showed us rooms, amenities, etc, gave us the pitch and we declined. They asked for a telephone number to have on "record" and we gave them an older cell phone number.
We left without any real irritation other than a semi-aggressive sales pitch that we just kept saying no to. We got out of there with 2 tickets to the Absinthe show that was about $60 a piece, High Roller tickets at about $20 a piece, and $75 in meal vouchers for about an hour and 45 minutes of our day.
I honestly was glad we did it. I didn't want to do it at first but it really wasn't horrible. The other members of our group on the trip said that they had much worse timeshare presentation experiences and we were lucky.

Why does everyone say it’s a high-pressure environment? They don’t take no for an answer?
Genuinely curious

I'm going to go out on a limb here but it was probably a typo

There's no way you should do it for a cruise. Chances are its only for a portion of the cost of the trip, they probably have some deal with Carnival where you still pay the taxes, food, drinks, etc.
I'd possibly contemplate it if they give you something of real value when you left, such as meal vouchers and concert tickets. Even then, screw that. I don't like saying no and listening to sales pitches, just not worth my time.

My parents did one (sounds like the same one) after a trip to Bass Pro.
I dont remember the details about the cruise. But know for a fact they went to to Branson for an extended weekend.
Like some others have said. They had to saw no a good bit but overall stated that it was worth the extended weekend get away.

You will be harassed by a high-pressure sales person for the majority of your time.

Have an uncle and aunt who got many a free night and comps in Vegas for sitting through 1/2 day timeshare presentations all the time.
If you knew them you'd feel more sorry for the salespeople.

Ive used the time share promotion to get free rooms before. You'll just have to sit through a lot of high pressure sales.
Don't sign anything don't run your credit, just say no, I'll think about it, no.
After a few hours they let you go. You get your prize.

Do you really not know? It all centers around the 2 hour time share property.
And no. The first time I went to Vegas I got stopped by someone wanting to sign me up for one.
She came to me like she was just some random person and asked me something. She had my attention. Then gave me the whole "how would you like to go on a cruise for free?" and then she goes into how all I have to do is attend and when she asked "so I can sign you up?" I was stupid enough to say "yes".. But I had no plans on going. I gave her my name, a made up phone number... But nothing is free my boy. Everything has a cost.

When we were living in SC my wife and did one, we got to stay an extended weekend at a nice beach front resort and spent about an 1 hour at the time share presentation. The salesman was pushy at first but I told him there was no way we were going to buy and he was cool about it and hit the points he had to hit and let us get out there with everything promised.

Pretty much. Will corner you with a pen and paper and keep at it no matter how many times you say no.
If you are there will the spouse they will try to separate you to so that one will be more likely to crack.
They start off with their highest package, then when you say no they go to the next package, and the next, then they slice that price down, then down to the bottom and just try to get you even somewhat of a crease of a yes and will again slice it down so you will want to say yes.
Think of a telemarketer except you’re locked in a room with them

That's funny!! We think alike. I told the lady that I am hesitant to go on cruise nowadays with fear of being quarantined on the hip. She said the cruise passes are good for 2 years so this virus thing should be over. They always have a comeback.

Two hours. Lol. You mean 48 hours of high pressure sales.

My wife (then girlfriend) and I got a "free" 3 day 2 night vacation to Daytona beach. Had to go to a sales pitch. Lasted about 3 hours. We were wined and dined and shown all these incredible places that we could go to if we only spend about 2k a year. had a payment plan and everything. Their main line was "you're always gonna want to go on a vacation each year, right?". The salesguy was really good. Had my gf ready to sign up. But I pulled her to the side at one point and said this was a bad idea. Another couple with a different salesman were busy pulling out their wallets. You just have to be able to say no and stand by that answer.
Oh, and any offer that requires a decision "right now" is usually a bad offer.

I've done two. One was a food voucher for a spiel about some condos in Hilton head. Run by Marriott. No problem. Didn't buy the week. Just told the guy after adding up all the weeks in my head, you are actually selling this one bedroom condo for 1.5 million, not accounting for "maintenance fees". Ate good that night, and have stayed exclusively at Marriott for the next 40 years.
Next time share was a disaster. Free Sea World tickets for a spiel from an Orlando condo developer. MIL paid for our trip to Disney for her only grandchild. I didn't want her to do this, so I went cheap and booked some rooms at the Day's Inn Orlando. Arrived early and had a free day before Disney. Two hour spiel and we can see Shamu.
First big mistake. Staying in Orlando. Second big mistake signing up for free shite on the sidewalk next to a bunch of T-shirt stores.
A nice, at the time, German accented lady, picked us up promptly at 7am. Big Mercedes. She starts making small talk about where we are from, what we do for a living...
She shows the condos, constantly talking about this is an investment in the future, especially when you have a young child. Vee has a golf course (220 yard par 4's), vee has swimming pool for your son to be athlete. She kept talking about "the mouse" being a visionary, buy now and you can sell in zee future for millions.
I said no. Fraulein became...
Vee know you can afford, vy not? You are fool.
I said no again.
She dropped my wife and I at a bus stop. Zee bus comes by everty 45 minutes, here is a pass, for free.
She dropped us
