Because the Ragebait Industrial Complex (Outrage Economy? I haven't settled on a term yet) wasn't a thing yet.

In the garden, when mankind chose his own way rather than God's. And, we've been doing it ever since.

I think a better question is when did parenting go to shite? A lot of these lonely kids need their parents to step it up. Assuming they're actually in the kids life

People elected Obama to end foreign wars and bring middle class back. He did neither except lecture & divide the population

The bait and switch definitely didn't help.

I'd say the sexual revolution. It's the ultimate root of Clown World, and a lot of people vote D just so they can sleep around without responsibility. The Dims know they can work for Goldman Sachs and BlackRock as long as they wave a Progress flag.

Rise of social media

That only magnified a rot that had been progressing for the better part of a century. It really started in the late 19th century when the first seeds of the modern progressive movement were planted. As it slowly grew and spread over the decades, much like cancer slowly killing its host body, society began its decline. The first signed of the cancer became apparent in the early 20th century with the rise of feminism and the eugenics movement. It spread as progressive belief was embraced by academia and spread to one generation after another. The malignant nature of progressivism became apparent in the 60s and 70s. It was beat back into remission in the 80s only to reemerge in the 90s. This cancer has been slowly growing more radical with each passing generation to the point there is now a sizable number of people in our society who absolutely loath everything about our society. They openly call for and work toward its collapse.

At this point it’s NOT WHEN it’s started but how can we get back closer to where it should be…

When ever social media came out

Never saw anything political on MySpace. Beginning of Facebook was docile as well.

Maybe 2010? OP is very close on the date when when the massive spike in absurdity began.

The solution is quite simple, but most will reject it.

1. Graduate high school (at least)
2. Get married
3. Have at least two kids
4. Stay married
5. Take your family to church
6. While at church, actually listen and apply what you learn to your life and ensure your wife and children see you, as a husband and father, live out the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The more men who follow those six steps, the more society will begin to heal. Sadly, most will reject it so the rot will continue.

To be fair I feel society got on the roads the shithouse when the wife / mom had to go to work and we forgot about the dinner table. Growing up I was one of those families in the early eighties were dinner time was just grab something sit in front of the TV and eat. When we got away from the parents talking to their children every day things went to hell in a handbasket.
