Our Lady Prace in 2001 was awesome.

I could swear it was going on in the 80s.
First one called Groovin on the Grounds was 2000 or 2001. Its sponsored by Students on Target, which probably didn't exist in the 80s. Whatever concerts they had back then were something else.

I found a reference to it being off campus in 1994. But I think KLSU called their concert on the parade grounds "Groovin on the Grounds" back in the 80's. I could be going senile though.

Wilkinson said the event has changed over the years, evolving from an off-campus event in 1994 to what it is today. He said the event was moved to campus so more students could attend.

Groovin' on the Grounds started in 1989. I have tons of pics and videos from the first one. Bush Hogs, Black Problem, Better than Ezra, SX, Phantoms, Skiptones, Barking Spiders and a few others played.

I was there from 97-00 and there was no Groovin on the Grounds. I think they voted on the student fee my last semester there.

Just corrected my post above yours. I had a couple of bands wrong. Just found the original flyer from 1989. I'll post a pic when Photobucket gets back online.

Don't forget about Trash Bash on the parade grounds. It started in 1989 and had Harmonica Red, Better than Ezra, SX, Lower Chakras and Harbour-White.

I was there 98-02 and there was def a Groovin on the grounds in 99. That was soul asylum, I think. Or if it wasn’t Groovin, it was a similar parade grounds concert.

Who remembers the comedy shows LSU would bring in between 99-01?
Saw Tracy Morgan perform upstairs in the student union and then they brought in Jimmy Fallon for a Sunday matinee performance the day after he performed live on SNL

The Bell Tower going totally phallic in that poster.
I might've actually seen parts of that show, back when you could still drink on the parade grounds without interruption.

I saw Puddle of Mudd and Chevelle there in the late 2000s. Also watched Akon lip sync his entire set. It was bad. Puddle of Mudd sucked too but Chevelle kicked arse.

One Republic was there in 2009 I believe

Not Groovin' on the Grounds, but does anyone remember seeing Bloodline in front of the Union in August 1994? It featured a 17 year old Joe Bonamassa, as well as the sons of Robby Krieger (The Doors), Berry Oakley (Allman Brothers Band) and Miles Davis.
I remember it was a Sunday night, and there couldn't have been more than a couple dozen people there, but Joe Bonamassa was incredible on guitar.
Anyway, CSB.

I remember Cowboy Mouth ruining it when they played because Fred LeBlanc threw a little hissy fit over people who wanted to mosh. Came off the stage and was buffaloing the audience into behaving, as if he was going to send them to detention or something.

I remember when it was Groovin for Groceries. You had to bring canned goods to get in.
