Being poor is largely a learned place in life, as is not valuing education and/or inheriting the low intelligence of your parents.

At one point society policed itself, that started waining in the late 90s with the rise of everyone playing their "card." With social media, there is even more hesitancy of us holding each other accountable due to the fear of being called a racist, homophobe, etc.
Credit being far too easy to get is a big factor in keeping the poor in a cycle of bad decisions.

The bible says there will always be the rich and there will always be the poor.
If you want to be rich, the poor must exist. Its a natural product of capitalism. In capitalism some people win and some people lose. If everyone was equal socioeconomically we would be living in a communist system.

Don’t take this the wrong way or as an attack on you, but we must have different versions of decent house and car if you bought a house in Baton Rouge on $30k/year

Like I said. I don’t spend much money. I rented cheap for many years and saved up a bunch of money over time. I have great credit and got a great interest rate, too. Also, no kids. That helps a lot.

Having an insanely high standard of living pretty easy in America. 1) Finish high school. 2) Don't go to prison. 3) Don't have kids out of wedlock. If you can do 2 of those 3 you are pretty much good to go.

Habits.
Bad habits are the unlocked door to failure. Good habits are the key to all success.
Habits are hard to break.
Habits are tough. No doubt.
But there’s also a reality of needing a bit more luck to get to the same place. You are just more likely to catch a bad break when your broke.
And plenty sink into poverty with mental health challenges, IQ shortfalls that are beyond their control, health issues. Plus all the crazy cognitive stuff that gets built into you as a really young child with no control.
If you are at least decently functional, and haven’t been in a train wreck situation socially, you have a pretty darn good shot at middle class though

You have to describe what you mean by poor and "broke arse poor."
Are we talking going to bed hungry because your family can't afford food?
Are we talking you hope the car doesn't break down because you couldn't afford to have it repaired?
Are we talking each member of the family has two pairs of jeans and three white t-shirts?
Are we talking the wife buys a fake Gucci handbag because she can't afford a real one?
Are we talking you go to Biloxi for vacation because you can't afford Punta Cana like all the OT Ballers?
Are we talking you can't afford an assistant for your pool boy?
