The Reinauers made their money and became the big cahuna regarding real estate by doing the deal for Cities Service Refinery and Columbia Chemicals (synthetic rubber) during WWII

This. Would have loved to move to Lake Charles. Job postings are few and far between and usually don’t pay anything.

Do you think that all of the chemical plants and refineries are that high?

You wonder where LC would be without the casinos. Or if Texas ever legalizes casino gambling.

Looks like there has been some white flight. It’s 61% Hispanic now, and the white population has gone down quite a bit in recent years.

Aint that the truth. Awesome station.

I remember for end of year, many stations played top singles but Nova 104 played top album A sides.

Then KLOU took over and it became KBIU and top 40.

The first few years when Spook was actively involved they had a great mix of Rock, Austin country and sprinkled with a little South American Jazz. It came on air July 4th 1976 with Jimi Hendrix rendition of the Star Spangled Banner.

I want to say it was named Nova after the original owner who’s last name was Teranova. The daughter was in my 6th grade class. Not sure how I can remember her name when I can’t remember what I had for lunch.

and Elaine Greene was as sexy in person as her voice sounded as a DJ. I guess I shouldn't have made a pass at her while inebriated and my then wife introducing us at Judge Roy Bean's. She blew me off and it didn't go well with the now ex.

Houston was on track to overtake Chicago as third biggest city in the US before Harvey hit.

It still, metropolitan Houston has only gotten bigger and is growing at a faster rate than before.
