My wife actually does Disney planning as a side gig. A good planner makes your life significantly easier.

I do All Star Sports. I just need clean and safe when it comes to a hotel. The higher end ones are more of a resort and a different experience

Google Dave’s Disney…
You can buy points from th vacation club. Much better deal

Well that’s not really a “Disney” secret lol
The reason to stay onsite is to not have to drive back and forth, parking etc.
You pay a little more for the experience… it’s much more enjoyable

We take at least one trip a year to a Disney park. We use points for our flights and hotel. Every little bit helps to offset the cost. We've stayed at the Hilton properties across from Disney Springs and ride share to the parks. Park tickets are the most expensive cost of the trip.

I just looked at rooms at the Polynesian resort in June for 5 nights. Port Orleans is 288 a night.
Why do some people pay that much for a room if you are at the parks all day?
You are paying to use the fantastic pools and the sandy beach, it looks like a tropical paradise. You are not just sleeping at the Polynesian.
If everybody just paid to sleep, we would only have Motel 6s.

We’ve stayed at Bay Lake the last 2 years. My wife rents points through DVC and it’s much cheaper than booking rooms at the contemporary through Disney itself.
It’s so so nice to be able to walk back to room after fireworks at MK when everybody else has long waits for transportation.
With young kids, it’s so quick to get back to room from MK at any point of day.
The convenience factor is absolutely real.
Staying off site or at the value resorts increases travel time to the parks. The more expensive ones get you to the parks much quicker.

$1,300 to you probably doesn’t have the same value as it does for me.
And the inflation-adjusted value of $1,300 meant more to me 30 years ago.

I did not see this posted yet. On site, pineapple, dole whip. And monorail is a very high value to maximize time especially if you want to come back in the middle of the day and rest much more efficient than the buses. Is it very expensive sure but they keep selling out so they keep raising the prices.

Kids love it though.
We took kids all over. Smokes, nyc, Branson, grand canyon, Vegas, Caribbean but Disney is the place they always wanted to go back to.
Though in 2018 I started rotating in flights to LA and Disneyland. You can stay walking distance to property and easily do both parks in two days.
Cheaper than world including flights and better weather.

We did both last year. I prefer Disneyland. Then we spent a couple of nights in Santa Monica across from the pier.

I did one trip without kids. It was fun. Me and then wife stayed at the Beach Club. Walked to Epcot daily for food and wine. Mostly just drank and ate. Room was very close to back entrance to the park. Think that trip cost more than a family trip because we also ate at Victoria and Albert's and Monsour Paul.

I agree I like how the rides are right on top of each other you get off one and right onto another.
Plus Haunted mansion and Pirates are better and they still have the submarines.

I don't know, man. I pay waaay less money for a VRBO time share condo and the kids have their own bedrooms, me and the wife have a king size bed and master bath, we can cook dinner and have snacks in the fridge. Vastly better than a hotel room with two queens. I stayed at the Grand Floridian and the Polynesian multiple times - the grounds are beautiful, the rooms may as well be a Quality Inn. Driving a car and parking is not hard, presumably most here have those skills. Disney and Universal have well designed parking lots with shuttles.

That's my big issue. The Disney hotels the rooms themselves are usually not that nice. Maybe below a standard Hilton. Everything but Deluxe are basically motels with doors on the outside.
Renting a house is my favorite. Though I've never stayed at a monorail loop property. Only deluxe I've done was Beach, Animal kingdom and Boatdwalk.

We went twice when the kids were younger. First time we stayed at the African resort or whatever it is where you can see the giraffes and impalas and shite outside your room.
The giraffes and impalas sound cool, but i'm a little confused about shitting outside your room.
