Will Smith may be asked to hand back his #Oscar  due to breaking The Academy’s code of conduct, sources tell @nypost.

I've said it and I'll stand by it, if they take the Oscar it was real.

I was also met with everyone saying there was no chance they would take it.

Welp here we are

There still hasn't been any good reason posited as to why Will Smith, Chris Rock, or the Academy would agree to this "publicity stunt" if it truly were one.

The Oscar's went through a huge "the Oscar's are too white" movement and boycott a couple years ago, why would they agree to two black men making a scene for ratings out of all the other possibilities? This easily could've been two white people if it were staged, why Will Smith and Chris Rock?

What about the fact that Smith and Rock have openly disliked eachother for years now? Why would they agree to corroborate on this publicity stunt that makes them BOTH look bad? What did they possibly have to gain? They both have plenty of money and fame, Smith was literally accepting the greatest award of his lifetime shortly later.

The "it's fake!" crowd never actually addresses these points

The argument that the Academy would never go along with something like that

So you didn’t even know the awards were going to be on, yet you’re in the know regarding how the Academy works?

Got it

Super suspicious to put a best actor candidate up front instead of way back

Come on, man. They're not going to make him give it back, even if it's real.

You're really hung up on some weird aspects of this. Why would those points have to be addressed? They're kind of meaningless to be honest. And I'm someone who leans toward the "it's real" side.

I'm not saying I agree with them doing nothing, just that assuming nothing was done because they knew it was a hoax is just not thinking this all the way through. I don't think they'd have done it even if he was not nominated for an award to be handed out 30 minutes later...but knowing they'd have to address it soon made it impossible for them unless they wanted to actually do the right thing here. Imagine the blow back they'd have received had they removed Will and Jada Smith at that point and then it was obvious he was not there to accept his Oscar? the story today would be about how the Academy overreacted to a black mand defending his wife.

Plus, Chris Rock could have made it easy on them and said not to worry about it...who knows.

The issue is there’s no contingency plan for best actor walking up and clocking the guy on stage on live tv… so most producers will just go with the path of least resistance and not make any stand to avoid possibly overreacting

Will Smith lives surrounded by sycophants, no one will tell him he acted like a little bitch whose kids are freaks and his bald-headed wife fricks other people. And then he cries about it, what a pussy.

This deserves to be posted again. Whether it's the withdrawal from Afghanistan, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, or some Oscars antics, OMLandshark will be posting some hysterical theatrics.

I’ve enjoyed the Oscar fiasco. I’m if anything defending Will here to where he doesn’t deserve to have his Oscar revoked over this.
