ETA: Here's my crazy conspiracy theory
Maybe, possibly, Will Smith getting up and going to the stage was improv. Maybe his intent was to fake slap Chris Rock, not actually make contact, get a laugh, then sit down. But he fricked up and accidentally made contact. That may explain him laughing at the joke initially, and that smirk after he did it that kinda looked to me like "oh shite I actually hit him". Then after he sat down he didn't know what the hell to do so he just decided to double down on it and act like he did actually mean to do it, so he started "acting" and threw out the F bombs. Jada was laughing because she also thought Will was playing at first. Idk
