The money would be better spent on something like cancer research. The earth's climate has been changing drastically since well before the dawn of humankind and Jeff is going to be very disappointed when he eventually realizes that his 10 billion bucks is not going to allow him to make a difference in climate change.

Apparently, there is a growing mob of people that think the giant nuclear reactor 1000000 times the size of Earth might have something to do with it....dummies.

That doesn't mean that humans can't also affect the climate. It's a proven fact that adding massive amounts of carbon dioxide and methane into the atmosphere can warm the globe. We know this from you know...those climate changing events the last 4 billion years (siberian traps) people keep bringing up. We could set off 2000 nuclear bombs across the globe, slip into nuclear winter, and some on here would still say humans can't affect the climate.

Bezos could've fed a lot of starving people with that dough instead of wasting it fighting a natural phenomenon that's occurred numerous times through the life of the planet earth, and is going to continue to naturally occur no matter how much money you throw at it.

There’s a consensus among the scientific community that humans play a major role in the climate change that is occurring now.

no I don’t. Humans are irrelevant to a planet that is still belching mega tons of methane every day through geothermal vents and cracks in the sea floor
Climate change, which, started as global warming until the cooling period in the 2000s is a modern day version of the Catholic Churches ‘Indulgence Tax’ of the Middle Ages
Instead of forgiveness of sins for money, this scam sells you carbon credits to escape public shaming
Wake up dude, it’s horse shite
It’s all a cycle based on Earths orbit and the suns storms
We are insignificant on a cosmic scale

How much?
What percentage of the atmosphere is made up of CO2?
Is CO2 a pollutant?
How much CO2 does man produce?
How much CO2 do people in America produce?
How is Oxygen produced?

Lot of SUV's back then, obviously...

Nice straw man. Want to stay on the subject matter?

Lets start easy. Define climate.

Example. 2019 2nd longest drought in Austrailia's recorded history. Longest drought...1902.

And then there is the whole medieval warming period and the natural cooling/warming of the earth, but somehow, only if i'm taxed more, will climate change disappear.

Good for him. His own money, he can spend it how he wants.

quote:

With an estimated net worth of nearly $130 billion, his pledge accounts for about 7.7% of his wealth.

Who the hell cares how much he’s worth. He just pledged $10 billion to something. Why are they upset he didn’t donate more?

That’s a nuclear event that would kill off all life and not part of a logical discussion, it’s never happened. Even nuclear winter is a theory , you nor anyone actually know what would happen

That's enough money to write every US citizen a check for $30.56 which would buy a nice meal at the local outback and do the world a lot better than this phantom fight against a warming earth. A warming Earth who's main antagonists are the billions of people in Asia that do not give a rat frick about Jeff Beezos or his rich ideas.

He'll be left with more money than he could spend in 100 lifetimes though and gets to virtue signal to the world.
