As to your other point, if you are actually curious
I'm sure that the website called "Anti-War" has a really nuanced take but the reality is that we were attacked and HAD to fight in the Pacific and we went to Europe so that we didn't have to fight the Nazis alone.
If we focused solely on the Pacific and ignored Europe, we would have had to turn around and fight a second war against the regrouped Nazis alone.
If we did decide to let Hitler have Europe and sign some sort of treaty, we would then have had to contend with the Nazi's as a world power with the might of all of Europe behind them.
No matter how it is spun, WW2 was the last "just" war that needed to be fought.
We probably should have stayed out of WW1 since it was strictly a European dispute.

If Biden keeps dicking around in Ukraine we may find out.

We agree on 99% of this discussion so there is no real point in arguing over the remaining 1%. If I could take back the other wars (yes including WW1) I would be perfectly fine if WW2 was the only one we fought in. But the link explains how we pretty much backed Japan into that corner.

My great grandfather a WW2 vet is the person who taught me all of this.

Y’all know Hitler declared war on the US first. He kinda made it a really easy decision.

Historically speaking drafts haven't worked anywhere. There are exceptions though, for very justified drafts. (WW1/WW2 in Britain/US)

No disrespect to your grandfather, but maybe you should do some research on your own. It won't take you long to find out how terribly wrong he was.

Read the link I posted elsewhere in this thread. Hitler didn’t want war with America and America didn’t want war either until we elected somebody who did.

I think you should read up on the subject from a different source. Japan in the late 1800s through WW2 had weird fricked up morals that they STRICTLY held themselves to. They got backed into a corner because they committed war crimes in China. I am not dismissing how the european countries acted in 3rd world countries in the 19th century but that also doesn't excuse Japan for the rape of Nanking.

There is almost no war in history that if you want to take the devil's advocate opinion that you can't argue that the aggressor was really the aggrieved victim and they had no choice. There are at least two lens to peer through in every instance of war. Historians often do this as a bit of an acid test in order to consider other opinions. In regards to Japan being victimized and pushed into a corner where they had no choice, it may ring true on the surface for some but their choices put them in the position, they made further poor choices that decimated their nation. They did arguably benefit long term but the costs were huge.

Luckily I went to school in America so I have heard it more than enough times. Perhaps you should read from a source that isn’t spoon fed to you by the military industrial complex.

Anybody who thinks a draft is a good idea is an America Hater.

No. Crackheads & all kinds of ppl get away with murder every day. Ppl would just ignore the govt. or the left would then Jan 6 style dc themselves.
Posted on 7/13/23 at 5:15 pm to momentoftruth87
They would just throw all the white men who refused in jail. Everyone else would get a pass.
Posted on 7/13/23 at 5:16 pm to Thundercles
Nope.., plus they would def not want to be there. Even more than Vietnam….

Listen to Draft Dodger Rag by Pete Seeger. I think the covid government enforcement pretty much ate up the goodwill associated with being told what to do. Women would have to be draft able also, to avoid the male population between 18-35 going 100 percent tranny.
