They don't wow me enough to fork over the cash. Range loss is also an issue.

I’m curious about the electric motorcycles that are being built but as of now I’m a no on cars and trucks.

I drive maybe 5k-7k miles a year and it’s almost all city miles. I may take 2-3 trips a year that are over 200 miles from home. I’ll be handing down my 3 year old Bronco sport to my 16 year old in January and buying a Tesla. I do wish the prices would come down though.

Yes, but only as a second car for short trips around town.

The govt will probably force me to either by banning gas ones or making gas too expensive before I would ever naturally consider it

Supposedly California is banning new sales of gas vehicles by 2035. I doubt that actually happens though.

Right now? No. Down the road if the technology improves? Sure.

My fear is that I tend to hold on to cars for a while - 10 years at least - and my cell phone battery life has taught me a thing or two about relying on batteries.

Not the same thing. There are plenty of long-term tests documented across the internet that show degradation is actually incredibly slow.

No offense, but I’m going to need to see more than long-term tests on the internet. What I’ll be looking for is EVs that have 300,000 miles and can still go 400+ miles on a charge. And I’ll need to see that the charge doesn’t take hours either.

When I see that, I’ll be all for it.

I got an electric car for Christmas once. I think I was 5 years old. I quickly outgrew it. And the battery life made it impractical.

And I've been told I have to be RealID compliant to fly since about 2014. Still using my old, non-compliant DL

Not really sure what you want. A paper boy to deliver it to your porch? This is how you find stuff in the current century. Long-term, real-world test data is readily available.

Read one this morning for a Tesla owner who is pretty close to this. Not quite at 400 miles on a charge since they don't start there to begin with, but pushing 300k miles with minimal loss of capacity.

My question for you is, when they meet your requirements, will you just move your goalposts again? Or will you actually give one a try? Most people I know who say things like this are against the idea of owning an EV mainly because it makes people think they're a lib. That's no reason to buy or not buy but to each his own, I guess.

If your job provides free charging and you plan on working that job for many years, then that would be a good scenario to get an EV. I know several people whose company has free charging stations in the parking lot. Problem would be if many coworkers also get EVs and hog the chargers

Electric cars are awesome machines. But the infrastructure isn't yet developed. And I would rather wait a few more years to let them get kinks worked out and make them better and more reliable.

Electric cars are the future, but that doesn't mean gas cars should be eliminated nor does it mean electric cars should be forced down our throats right now. Let the technology keep developing and the infrastructure build.

As more and more people get EV's, then it'll stop being free, but still economical.

When I was driving yesterday we stopped at the packed hell that is Buc-ee's and I wouldn't be surprised if they started adding charging stations to the back row of parking to get people inside to shop
