Hard rutting LA buck?

They're just getting going good where we are. About 10 days ago we have pictures of bucks still in bachelor groups. Came out this morning and saw 4 bucks during this hunt and one of them was running with his nose on the ground right on the heels of a doe.

Awesome buck! What parish?

Thanks! East Feliciana.

Molars on that back toof I would say 5.5 or more unless you been feeding a lot of sweet feed or meth.
Between 5.5 and when it gets to the jawbone at about 10 it’s then a crap shoot.

Ohh by the way congrats

Dang where in East Feliciana? Kinda looks like one we have on camera. Bucks have definitely been running this week.

4th molar from front. Compare the exposed dentine (brown) to enamel (white) on the tongue side.
If the enamel is thicker than = 2.5
If the dentine is thicker than the enamel = 3.5

I say it’s close. Let’s say 3.5

Move to 5th molar and do the same.
If the enamel (white) is thicker then = 3.5
If the dentine is thicker than the enamel = 4.5

I see clear white is thicker here so I’d stop at 3.5 years old.

We are in Norwood as well. Like I said, we had bucks in bachelor groups just 10 days ago so I have to imagine this is fairly new and recent chasing. I had a buck on another camera alone and moving this morning, seems like they’re starting to break up in our area. Hopefully y’all start to see the same soon!

gonna make a great mount.

They’re not quite chasing, but they’re following. The one I shot came out with 2 other bucks; 1.5yo 5pt and 2.5yo 6pt, they’ve been hanging together all year.

I was fortunate enough to get some well timed rains and be around to get fertilizer on it before a few of them. 3 way blend of wheat, rye and oats. Crimson and white clover, raddish and turnips.

Agree with others, I could stare at the plot all day.

Had already planned to use a similar blend next season from Kentwood Co-op, and spending twice the money on soil prep than actual seed.

That's the key, unfortunately none of its cheap. Boy is it frickin satisfying though.
