Anyone dropped $5K on the Power Pole trolling motor yet?

I really want one for my poling skiff as I have heard guides in the Keys have been so impressed with the quietness of the Power Pole Move TM, they have gone to them instead of poling at times. But $5000 for a TM?
To clarify, I rarely actually pole and primarily use a 12V 55 lb TM. Which was under $600, or 1/8 the cost of the Move.

Nah, I rebuilt a first year ulterra instead. A few hundred bucks and works like a charm. Once I looked at what new cost, a few youtube videos and about $300 in parts fixed me right up.

The separate buttons that must be installed on the deck are a deal breaker for me. Also, I am sticking with cable stear TMs until the foot connection gets better.

That's completely outrageous. It is still a trolling motor. I would never spend that kind of money on a damn trolling motor

Yeah, I cant do it either. I want to badly, but that's just too much. I do like the company, and while they are proud of there product, I wouldnt own a boat without one. I have had 4 different power poles over 3 boats and love the product, the customer service, and the innovation. The Move TM does have a brushless motor and lifetime warrantied titanium shaft, and is apparently insanely quiet. I think I would pull the trigger at $3K but that would still make it the most expensive TM on the market.

Are current trolling motors really that loud? Properly used and at proper speed I’ve never had an issue.
Competition in the market though is a good thing generally speaking

I believe the noise issue mainly applies to the niche market of poling skiffs who don't use them at all. If you are catching fish now using your current TM I cant imagine dropping that much cash to maybe catch a few more.
I do mainly fish shallow, clear water and it would be awesome not to have to pole in certain conditions. Just not $5K awesome.

Just guessing on the loudness issue.
If you use Anchor mode a lot, it has to turn itself on and off a lot (which is a whole nother argument as to how accurate it should maintain you).
And if you're sitting on fish, you may or may not startle them with trolling motor noise. Personally, I've never thought my TM was scaring off fish, but there's been many days where something damn sure seem to be.
I'm interested to hear the reports on their new motor. Big fan of the powerpole and their customer service too. $5k on a trolling motor seems like a good gift from your 5 kids.
But I only have one.

finalizing options on a custom hybrid bay build. Considering Power Pole Move or Garmin Force TM, but leaning toward Move.

I just pulled the trigger on the new brushless Minnkota Instinct Riptide. 3 trips with it and it’s been awesome so far. Very expensive though.
I was giving some thought to the Garmin Kraken but was not confident enough with it compared to the Minn Kota as there seem to be a lot more of the MK’s on the water.

Yall make me feel really inadequate with my 89 bill dance motorguide. I won't replace anything that still works. Speed selector went out and I replaced it with a household dimmer switch...which was an upgrade to precise infinite speed control lol
Every time I replace something old that's tried and true the new version is dead in a few years. I've come to appreciate the old stuff that just works.
I've got an old Lawrence paper graph depth finder that I'd still use if it wasn't so hard to replace the paper. Blows kids minds when I show them that it literally drew a picture with a stylus and was the greatest thing you could get at the time.
If I had one of the new live scopes I'd waste all day riding around looking at stuff. I know this cause I spent 3 days showing a buddy fish structures I sunk in the 90s.
Sorry I derailed the thread.

I've kept mine working so I can show people. Another cool feature was unrolling the paper at home to review the "data" on a rainy day.
Back then it was incredibly detailed. Being able to see a brush pile was amazing. With a flasher you pretty much just knew were bottom and the thrermocline was. I'd still be using it but I am always worried I'll run out of the precious paper.

I guess but poling skiffs are super light and don’t need high thrust motors, those lower thrusts are already pretty quiet on low. I’ve had much more issues with fish seeing me over hearing me. The more tools you have in your arsenal the better I suppose, I just never felt like trolling motor noise was an issue with poling skiffs. I always thought they preferred the basic, light, and open deck space. It’s not easy to throw a big fly rod with a trolling motor on the deck with you.
