I'm about to dip out and see if wife and I can boat a few walleyes this afternoon. If I see some sacalait holding on a tree, I'll pitch some jigs to them. Water is still in mid 40s here.

15 this morning. Almost all from one tree complex. Only two had eggs. Whites grouped up. Blacks spread out one per tree.

Post front was tough. I usually catch multiple little bass doing this. I only caught one yesterday.

I tried here in CenTex Thursday and Friday. Crappie aren't up on banks yet, and no whites in creek. I figure next week it will set off.
You guys using a cork? Any tips?
I have always just used a crappie jig and basically "dipped" it near branches, trees etc. I'll occasionally use a slip cork for my kids with a minnow on it at 1-2' depth.
It looks like I see guys using a small weighted cork, and popping it back to them I guess. I may give it a try.

Yes most use a cork, not weighted. Your choice of jig head weight depending on depth. I usually use 1/32 for fixing shallow right now.

Got any pointers for Indian Creek? Our cubscout pack is heading there for our spring campout at the end of March. ~150 people between scouts and adults.
I havent fished IC in years and back then it was a very stingy bass lake. Would love for a couple scouts to see a cork go under but honestly just getting them casting is about all I expect. I will bring worms (and crickets if I can find them ahead of time). Shiners might be more logistics than I care to add to my docket.

By the end of March, you're probably limited to early bluegill. The crappie and shell crackers should be offshore by then. Cricket is probably your best option.
