I was going to say that since it’s your family’s farm y’all should do whatever you want and claim family tradition is drinking a few beers while shooting doves.
But, after reading that y’all smoked an old man in a wheel chair while he was parked in an ant pile makes me believe some of your family should not only not drink and shoot but maybe refrain from both!!!
And whatever you do don’t let them drink seltzers who knows what kind of kinky shite they gonna do to ol pawinlaw. Lmao

The drinking debate has too many variables.

We all probably agree don’t get plastered and hunt.

And we all agree that a beer or two over the course of a hunt isn't going to cause a problem for most of us.

The issue is each hunter’s ability to keep it to that acceptable level. If you can’t, you probably need to wait til you’re done hunting.

Kind of like the difference in driving home from the bar after drinking verses grabbing a 24 ounce can for the drive home from work on a Friday. One is very risky, one is likely harmless.

That is unpopular?

Drinking and hunting is retarded. Get as drunk as you want at the camp after the hunt but never drink with guns

I agree with you. If a man can’t drink a few and shoot doves fk him.

Hopefully that tallow isn’t a girl tree.

Can we get another update on the artwork sir, adding a wheelchair in an antbed may make this a timeless work of art.

I call my Mississipi cousins the feral cousins. My uncle was the black sheep and moved their to work on 3 wheelers.

I like hunting doves close to people and chatting. No way I’d do that drinking. If you are 100 yards apart that’s kinda one thing. I almost shot my dad when I was a kid following a dove and it swooped and I forgot where I was aiming. I’ll never forget the pellet Marks on the water tank next to his head.

I trust my self drinking to a degree, but I can’t believe so many guys trust others drinking around them. No way I’d hunt next to some of my friends and family drinking.

Hmm, so drinking while using guns is an absolute no, but being shitfaced while heading offshore where all kinds of things can happen in a hurry is A okay

I am surprise no one else brought that up...speaks volumes LOL.

Only if I ain't operating the boat...if I am operating the boat I don't drink more than a couple of beers a day. If I am alone I won't drink more than 2-3 beers in a day. But if someone else is operating the boat yeah, I will have a couple of bloody Mary's of a morning and maybe 4-6 beers during the day. I actually would not get three sheets to the wind on a fishing trip because I am too busy fishing to drink much. Back at the hill? That's a different story.

If an invited guest, no matter the relation, is not OK with the conditions of the invite then they should simply not attend. There is way more going on here than paw in law simply not wanting to be around folks drinking and shooting doves. If the wife doesn't understand that it is the tradition, as ill advised as it is, and her father is being granted a fantastic opportunity to attend what sounds like a family event you have more issues than this....

I personally do not drink while hunting but were I invited to hunt someone else's place I would make my acceptance contingent on them making accomadations for my comfort...I'd simply be busy and thank them for the invite.

No you're not.

How much of an alcoholic do you have to be to get mad at a grown arse man, for not wanting to drink and hunt?

Mercer aint alcoholic he just likes beer and a little toot of doug hardly ever drinks the hard stuff while hunting unless it's real cold or he can't hit shite which is all the time so yea you may be right about him being an alcoholic but still its his place and wheel chair man can roll his arse to another chicken tree if he dont like it.
